C N Red
Why can't Coach O just come in and be the recruiting specialist guy. I think we should come in and hire an ACE recruiter guy and pay him nicely. He's a great recruiter, but I think he won't give up coaching to do just that. He loves coaching. Has stated he really wants another chance at being a HC somewhere. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Plus only coaches can go on the road. Not nearly as effective of a recruiter without that. Quote Link to comment
Haspula
Todd Grantham (Lousiville) - $1M Grantham is a great recruiter but i heard he was a pretty bad coach. UGA fans were very happy when he left for louisville. Aranda is by far the best DC on the list. The 3-4 Defense with McMullen, Collins, and Valentine in the front would be great but I dont think they have the linebackers to run it effectively Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
If there is decision to be made at DC and it comes down to Orgeron or Aranda, the choice better be Aranda. 3 Quote Link to comment

Riley is known for adjusting his team and play style to his players' strengths though. Would we even want a 3-4 in the B1G? Quote Link to comment
The Dude
I would make Coach O defensive coordinator without batting an eye. The guy wants to be DC, give him what he wants, before someone else does. He's plently qualified. Quote Link to comment

HuskerinSunDiego
No chance. The guy has a salty past. One guy at USC said that Orgeron went f-bomb crazy on him when he said he had to leave one practice a week, 20 minutes early, to attend a class (http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2013/06/10/ex-usc-football-player-how-my-coach-called-me-a-m-r-for-going-to-class/). I seem to remember there being some other legal problem he had, as well. I know it was a long time ago, but in 1991 a lady got a restraining order against him for attacking her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Orgeron Anybody who attacks a woman has character problems. Sorry, I'd take a pass on this one. Quote Link to comment

All that I am saying is that we need to look at a guy's character, first. Yeah, he's a great coach, but what about his character? Quote Link to comment

Sorry, I'd take a pass on this one. From what it sounds like, he got pissed at one of his players for a having a scheduling conflict, had a restraining order put against him more than 20 years ago (that has since been rescinded) and was in a bar fight in 1992. I know elected officials with worse backgrounds. These are hardly viable enough reasons to keep Orgeron away from Nebraska. He's one of the best assistant coaches and recruiters in the country. If he was hired would you feel compelled to make a moral stand and leave the board? 2 Quote Link to comment
