Crazy crap Mark Banker says

Recommended Posts

Banker may be a good quote, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is an average to bad defensive coordinator. The only reason he lasted so long at Oregon State and is now at NU is that he's best buds with Riley.

I asked above that we not derail every thread with the same tired, old jabs at the staff. ColoradoHusk earned a suspension for this post.

I just dont have too much of an opinion on him yet. Last years D was pretty good at stuffing run gaps, did let a big one go here and there. Pass D and QB rush were not very good. Need lots of improvement there. And lastly any D coordinator I see running a prevent defense automatically gets downgraded.

Banker is a guy that is hard not to root for, even though he might not necessarily be able to get it done, much like a lot of Nebraska coaches in the past.

Can you expand on that? I find him dislikable, but am willing to change my mind in the face contrary evidence.

He just seems to have the kind of perspective you want to see in a college coach, keeping the order of student-athlete more in priority than most, really enjoying the role of being a mentor/father figure to his players, and entertaining the media pretty consistently.
