The Republican Utopia

And that is where organizations like WallBuilders get it wrong.   The USA was never meant to be a Christian nation.  Yet David Barton and others like him have pushed that narrative for decades.  Yes, most, not all, of the founders and writers of our original documents were Christian but they saw first hand the tyranny of a state religion and a govt beholding to it.  They knew for their religion to be safe and secured - all religions - including non-religious - need to be safe and secure.  While it is true, and as quoted by many founders, that a nation needs moral people to lead, that morality wasn't limited to just the Christian faith.

How ironic that Speaker Johnson and others in the  GOP cult movement support a highly immoral man as their leader.  They contradict everything a Christian founder would have stood for back in the early stages of our country.

WallBuilders is an organization dedicated to presenting America’s forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built – a foundation which, in recent years, has been seriously attacked and undermined. In accord with what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that “the propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained.”

Great job Republicans.  :clap

While I don’t like or want any debt increase, let’s put a little perspective on this.   The budget is around $7 trillion PER year and this bill according to the source says it will increase the current $33 TRILLION deficit by $1 billion a year.  And that’s assuming the CBO is correct which they hardly ever are (here’s looking at you Medicare CBO score, Obamacare CBO score, Trump tax cut CBO score)

“In major news this morning, the proposed bill by Speaker Mike Johnson that would provide Israel with over 14.3 billion dollars in aid, while cutting the same amount from IRS funding provided for by the Inflation Reduction Act, would increase the deficit by over 12 billion dollars over the next decade.”

so they are surrendering the republican party to the extremists?  i was assured the moderates were wresting control back from the fringe lunatics.

Time for a new party.   There needs to be a mass exodus of ''sane" GOPers.

I'm not sure at this point that even if every "sane" Republican remaining left the party it could be termed a mass exodus.  Maybe a trickle.

The sane GOPers have had every chance to stand up to their fringe players, but instead they've capitulated entirely and hung the handful of brave objectors out to dry.

I've also noticed those brave objectors only get brave after they decide to quit.

We can talk about that exodus all we want, but Donald Trump is polling dead even, and Joe Biden is a coughing spell away from losing. This is still on the voters.
