I am I
http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25610190/alabama-crimson-tide-suspends-3-players-including-starting-ol-deonte-brown-orange-bowl its Alabama, they can plug and play... or saban is actually holding feet to fire? Do we want Frost to “win at all cost” or would we want to hold the program to a higher standard even tho we aren’t where Bama is yet? (Easy for bama to bench players because they’re a juggernaut vs we need the wins) 1 Quote Link to comment
knapplc
We've done this in the recent past, albeit under a different head coach: Husker senior safety, captain Nate Gerry suspended for bowl game Boaz Joseph was also suspended for that game. Also: 3 hours ago, I am I said: Give props, or no? ...How does this affect the Huskers Gotta put this in context so it belongs in the Husker Football forum, my guy. 1 Quote Link to comment

(Easy for bama to bench players because they’re a juggernaut vs we need the wins) I'm a win at all cost type of guy. Everyone else does shady stuff, so we might as well too. Its only a problem if you get caught and even then nobody really cares that much. I never used to be this way, but ever since Penn State essentially got away with running a pedophile camp, whats it matter if we give players money under the table or in bags of cash on their parents door steps? If the NCAA doesn't care about protecting kids or actually handing out punishment, then I don't really care if we do whatever we can to win. 2 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Husker NoNo
I think there is a happy middle ground that Nebraska existed in when we were at our best. Hold yourself to higher standards, but at the same time always be on the look out for areas where the rules can be ethically pushed/stretched. It’s a fine line, but with strong leadership, and a healthy vision for the administration, team, & fan base it can happen. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

Xmas32
Given Saban's reluctance to suspend guys in the past I'm assuming these guys must've done something truly heinous. Quote Link to comment

Probably JUST short of gas masking the night before their Bowl game and having it spread like wildfire on social media. Because noone in the SEC would ever do a thing like that. 2 Quote Link to comment
I am I
I’m a “win” guy too, but not at ALL cost. Like me my accountant: get every advantage and take every break, but don’t break the rules. I give saban props for this. It’s not like guys who have never played win baby win...but have at least a moticum of rules and discipline. The guys who we have suspended or kicked off, I’m okay with that if it was justified. 1 Quote Link to comment
Enhance
The ends don't always justify the means. I'm in favor of pushing the limits of acceptability in order to win, however, I agree with @I am I that there's a limit. It all depends on the context of the situation. 1 Quote Link to comment

If it was another team they would be screaming the same thing. I don't place breaking and entering and a brutal assault on a woman below winning games. I am funny like that. Quote Link to comment

It only matters if you think that integrity is more important than winning a sports game. Displaying INTEGRITY in every decision and action; Building and maintaining TRUST with others; Giving RESPECT to each person we encounter; Pursuing unity of purpose through TEAMWORK; Maintaining LOYALTY to student-athletes, co-workers, fans and the University of Nebraska. Hmmm, nothing about winning in the Athletic Department's Mission Statement. Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory Something totally the opposite of "win at all costs" inscribed into the stadium. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
