If you go to a school with talent you should expect to have to earn a job. That involves work. Does Joe Burrow have low mental fortitude? How about Noah Vedral? Quote Link to comment

huKSer
I wonder how the percent transfer from one college to another looks like comparing the general student body vs student athletes? I would research it myself, but I had close to 7000 emails in my work inbox (now 4000) that I am culling out. Quote Link to comment

I just know that Fields hasn't accomplished anything and people are expecting a bigger year from him than Martinez...even though Martinez has proved he belongs in top QB discussion in the nation. To me, that's just a ton of hype with nothing to back it up yet. Where have you seen people saying he'll have a bigger year than Martinez? There are arguments to be had about how good he could be/will be, but I have not seen anyone (even OSU fans) predicting a bigger year than Martinez. All players start from having accomplished nothing, but we get excited about them anyway. This time of year is all about hype anyway, gotta be excited about something and the shiny new players are appealing. Are you quashing the Wan'Dale hype as well? 2 Quote Link to comment

Here's a few with about 30 seconds of googling. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/big-ten-quarterback-rankings-2019 https://www.offtackleempire.com/2019/4/8/18300228/best-quarterback-in-the-big-ten-2019-patterson-martinez-fields-stanley In this piece it shows JF has same Heisman odds to win as AM because, you know...so much evidence shows that he's absolutely as good as AM and will put up all those numbers...his appx 40 passes in college ball ensures that. News flash, highly ranked QB prospect expected to do big things at top 5 school. I think they are giving him the benefit of the doubt because the last few QBs at OSU have been very successful. I wouldn't have thought that Haskins would have developed into a record setting QB, but Day did a great job coaching him and helping Haskins develop. You don't need to take it as a dig at Martinez and you don't need to take it personally. Quote Link to comment

Husker in WI
I hadn't seen the articles actually ranking Fields ahead of Martinez, so I get it now. But at the same time if we had one of the top ten recruits of the past 20 years, we'd probably expect him to be better than a lot of more proven players whether that's fair or not. The dude has elite talent, and we'll just have to see how he actually plays. Quote Link to comment
