Just looking at used Learjet prices, if it's worth $1 million even this is probably a plane from the 1990s. Maintenance costs are probably significant, but hey.

It has been a week and it still hurts and sucks that we couldn’t get bowl eligible after going 5-3. It will be another long year before we have another shot at this but now with a much tougher schedule and competition. I just hope that Rhule can pull a magic rabbit out of the hat or we will be the only power 5 team not to go bowling in a decade.

Maybe it’s just for the use/flights.  I mean it’s not like he just left the thing on the field and put the keys in the mailbox Secret Santa style.

The University of Nebraska Foundation sold its 2002 Beechcraft King Air B200 in 2013 for a reported $2.1 million, and the university began contracting with fixed-based operators for air travel by Husker Athletics staff and other administrators.

 

In accepting the gift of the new jet from an anonymous donor, NU will also end a contract with Silverhawk Aviation renewed in January 2020 for a five-year term at a cost of $4.9 million that gave it a 50% ownership of a Cessna Citation 560.

 

NU will enter into a new contract with Ascend Aviation Management to store, maintain, insure and provide pilots to fly the LearJet, the university said.

 

The new contract will cost $1.55 million annually — an increase over the $1.3 million annual cost of the contract with Silverhawk — to be paid from Athletic Department funds.

 

No state tax dollars or tuition revenue will be put toward the new jet, administrators said on Friday.

 

Kabourek said the plane is in “fantastic condition,” but will require a few minor upgrades.

 

“We should not expect any major capital improvements when we acquire it,” he said.

 

The regents’ agenda states the university “intends to utilize the Lear 45 to support Husker Athletics, among other University purposes.”

$1.3 million annually for 50% ownership vs $1.55 million annually for 100% ownership, doesn't sound too bad.

The Heisman Trophy Committee is biased towards defense players.  We all know Suh was the best college player that year and he didn't need that award to clarify his status as that.

But it also shows that the best stat for DL is for the LB's behind them to have a ton of TFLs and short gains.
