Trump is worried. I love it. Would the Dems hurry up and put this guy away please.

Later in the interview, Trump said DeSantis is a "fine guy."

"I don’t know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly," Trump said. "I think he would be making a mistake, I think the base would not like it — I don’t think it would be good for the party."

An attorney for former President Donald Trump sent a strong message to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on the Monday before the midterm elections.

"I think I like what DeSantis is doing in Florida. But, he needs to stay in Florida," attorney Alina Habba said during an interview on Right Side Broadcasting Network from a Trump rally in Vandalia, Ohio.

"DeSantis is DeSantis because of Trump," she added.

Well, her last statement is true.

Thanks!

I mean, it makes NO sense at all to not run the guy that got the most votes ever...created more jobs than anyone ever...

What would the D's be worried about?

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Trump is very likely running. If the midterms are a mandate on the Biden Presidency, it does not bode well, as all that job creation and infrastructure is not standing up to the relentless GOP messaging that paints Joe as a socialist putting us on the path the Venezuela.

And you know.....drag queens and laptops.

Democrats rushed to Biden to avoid a Sanders candidacy, willing to trade his age for the moderate Obama halo, believing he was the best chance of beating Trump in 2020. Everyone had trepidation about 2024, but it was all about getting Trump out immediately. It was presumed we'd learn to love Kamala, who would take over when Joe stepped aside. The Democrats are very vulnerable.

There's actually a lot to worry about. And I think you know that, despite the question mark.

I am serious.

The dude got the most votes ever and unemployment is at a record low (I think).

Who would the D's trot out there instead?  Taking the chance of NOT running a sitting President is a far greater risk than running him.  Unless there was some sure thing out there.

I guess what I am saying is that unless you think a big portion of his voters last time are not going to vote for him this time, you have to run him.

I don't personally know a biden voter that would not be voting for him if he ran again, do you?

Just looking at the stats (his votes and unemployment) and the fact that he is a sitting President, it should be a win.

If they don't run him, that is the problem because now they are admitting they don't believe in him, no you have a problem.

With that said, I also do not think Trump is going to run, so what do I know!

@Guy Chamberlin and @teachercd.  I have a little different take.

In 2020, The Democrats needed to run someone who would beat Trump.  That was the most important thing that year.  And.....everything Trump has done since has proven how important it was to get him out of the White House.  Mission accomplished.  Yes, they wanted everyone to rally around Kamala but, that doesn't seem to be the answer.

Now, it's time to move on from Joe.  Someone will step up to run against DeSantis.  If Trump doesn't run or DeSantis beats him in the primaries, the Dems need to move on from Trump and NOT be like the Republicans and cling to Hillary.  That is.....unless Trump doesn't go away and he still has major power in the party holding rallies and campaigning constantly.  If he is still a power in the party, the Dems will have to address it appropriately in campaigns.  But, now the competition is DeSantis.  I think there is plenty there to attack and educate voters on.  DeSantis has wanted to be like Trump for years.  If Dems want to win, they have to come up with a candidate that appeals to more than the extreme of the party.  Desantis will be very polarizing just like Trump has been.  So, appeal to the masses and understand that there will always be that 30-40% that will be DeSantis no matter what.

I think you make a good point BUT I think the D's trot out Joe, for the reasons I listed before.

Trump will not run.  Ron might not even run.

24 should have been two new younger people running but people are morons.

I am slightly encouraged that I'm hearing Republicans start to say that candidates matter.  Because, clearly through the last few cycles, they had no clue on that topic.

And...I say "slightly" only because I need to see who they actually put up as candidates before I am convinced they have learned their lesson.

I can’t tell if the most recent polls were wrong again. Seems like the senate predictions were pretty close. I have no idea about the house. I was hearing Repubs +20s which would put them around 227. Doesn’t seem like they get there. Will it come down to Georgia run off?

Yeah, that is what it looks like.

Basically everyone was wrong...again.  Journalists, experts, talking heads (overrated band??) the link police...all wrong.

DeSantis will run.  His whole recent career is based on him running in 24.    Trump is too arrogant to back away.  Plus by running he may hope, wrongly, that he can ward off indictments.   But I want them both to run. Why? So the Never Trumper side of the party can select one good candidate (Liz, Hogan, ??) that they can get behind and Trump and DeSantis split the trump vote.  If Cruz and other trump supports jump in they can take some of that trump vote also.

1) It's likely and probably prudent, but the risks Will talks about are valid and if Joe falls off a bike again in the next two years, all bets are off.

2) Of course anything might or might not happen, but would love your theories on why Trump won't and Ron might not. All the bells and whistles suggest the opposite.

3) 2020 should have been two new younger people, but the fact is some of our younger candidates are also morons.

In 2020, Donald Trump got more votes than any Republican in history, and 10 million more votes than he did in 2016.

The danger for Dems isn't Democrats not voting for Biden, it's losing the enthusiasm gap and not turning out the vote in the raw numbers needed. And you know what discourages folks? In the last two years Republicans have not only refused to repudiate Trump, they've used him as a template.  On a state, local, and national level they've been hammering out the ways and means to invalidate any election that doesn't go their way.
