Hilltop
Takes a lot of guts to tell your story in the hopes that it inspires others. This is a good read and worth the few minutes of your day. Kudos to Mills #respect. 2 Quote Link to comment
jager
That is a good read. We, as fans, don't know what individual players have to deal with. Really eye opening. 1 Quote Link to comment
GSG
Good read. Glad to see more guys are coming forward about things like mental health. Hope that dips#!t Skip Bayless doesn't read it 4 Quote Link to comment
Undone
Wow, I got chills reading that. That takes so much courage to share your personal struggles on the internet like that. Dedrick Mills makes NU look better and that story should make us all the more proud to cheer on Mills and this team. Makes me proud of the whole system. 2 Quote Link to comment
Loebarth
chills, goosebumps and frankly, a whole lot of awe and respect... that is what every program should strive to do. Make better men/women first and the better athlete will naturally occur. Wow!! Mills thank you for sharing. Hope it inspires other young struggling (heck, even grown and struggling) people. What a sad and inspirational story though for everyone. The vast majority of kids don't have to deal with that at that age. You're supposed to be able to grow up , get married, have grandkids...then deal with parents dying. But....sometimes that doesn't work out. He's ultimately going to be a better man for it, but that's tough. 1 Quote Link to comment

It definitely made me grow up faster but some days are still difficult looking at my kids and wishing they'd been able to meet their Grandfather. 4 Quote Link to comment

He died a few days after having a heart attack caused by his Addison’s disease. I also find it difficult at times raising kids, knowing they will never know my father. But, I will bring him up quite often, just to keep his memory with me. 3 Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Man.... some powerful stories here! Takes alot of guts to step up and tell your story as an individual. Just exposes you on a different level as a person when you do that . My hat's off to them for having that strength. 2 Quote Link to comment
