I agree.  We should be able to drastically cut our defense budget.  But....the military industrial complex has a very very tight hold on our elected officials.

No, we really don't. The drug war has always been about political theater. These raids will have little to no impact other than PR.

I'm talking about helping these countries fight the cartels.  It's a big reason why we have so many people at our southern border right now.  Because it's unsafe in their own countries because of these organizations.  If we help them fight it, their countries become safer for people to stay in.

 

Yes, one raid every once in a while, won't have any affect.

Agreed.  I wouldn’t call it political theater to help countries with less resources fight the cartels on a consistent basis.

Gosh I just love that past (way past) legislators had the amazing foresight to rely on OPEC to provide fuel for the United States. To countries that just absolutely love us. Couldn’t go wrong.
