I mean we went 3-5 and you projected the idea of 8-4. Which is fewer losses. Your scenario means we take away one of our L's and add 5 W's. I am just saying we can't go back and change it and it is what it is. If he goes 8-4 last year we arent having the same discussion obviously because he showed be could win more than he loses. However as we all know we are 15-25. 4 1 Quote Link to comment

While the 2022 schedule is the easiest I have seen in over a decade, the 2023 is tougher and the 2024 schedule is brutal. By 2024 Alberts will be expected to have shown he can turn around the football program, and if he waits until after the 2023 season to make a change, that really puts his job on the line heading into 2024. Honest question for everybody: when you assess the performance of the UNL Athletic Director, do you factor in the success of Women's Volleyball and Men's Baseball, or the historically poor performance of Men's Basketball? Or is his job totally reliant on the football coach? Quote Link to comment

We went 3-5 and our other games were SDSU, C Michigan, Cincinatti, Wisconsin. 5-7 seems the most likely outcome. Quote Link to comment

Good hires result in more revenue, bad hires result in a decrease in revenue. At a school like NU who makes the vast majority of its money from the football program the AD will always be judged on that far before other sports. If Trev replaced our basketball coach and it was a flop but hired a good football coach he wouldnt be fired because of the basketball hire. Now if you were at Kansas and the AD and you botched the basketball hire and hired a good football coach you could easily get canned for your basketball hire etc. Just depends on the place. You have to look at the program that butters your bread and at NU it is football all the way. We take pride in the other sports, esp Volleyball and baseball in what they have accomplish. But if apathy sets in with those sports, no big lost. If apathy sets in with football - Quote Link to comment

Pretty wild, He's 2 points away from being 6-2 and they beat a decent Houston team to start the season. Checked the TT boards, looks like there is nothing more to it, he just wasn't winning enough for their taste. Losing to an average Kstate team looks like it was just the last straw. They finish with: Oklahoma Iowa State Oklahoma State Baylor If he ekes out a win against one of those teams it would make a splash. He wouldn't be expected to win any of them. But that would make them bowl-eligible, and be pretty tough to fire the coach at that point. So they pull the trigger now and move on. Quote Link to comment

Well when you have a college football legacy like Texas Tech, expectations are naturally elevated. Imagine being able to live in and recruit to Lubbock, Texas! 3 Quote Link to comment

Yep, they wanted to get him out before he saved his job. CFB is bizarre. If Frost does get a 5th year, Nebraska will appear to have monk like patience. 1 Quote Link to comment
