The way Omaha is growing, it's not just people originally from Nebraska or graduated from UNL, so that "state pride" or "Love for Dear Old Nebraska U" may not be something that the parents have. Heck, I am a former Nebraskan and UNL graduate that has spent to 20+ years living outside the state. My "state pride" has been more tied back to Nebraska, rather than Colorado, Illinois, and Texas (the other states I have lived). It's not a "bad thing", it's just the way it is. Frankly, I think it's unfair to the Omaha kids to say "they don't have state pride". It's just not the kids, it's the people in general. And it's not all, but a lot. My nephew grew up in western Nebraska and he coaches in Omaha. He will tell you the same thing. Quote Link to comment

I was talking about the geographic area. For some reason the OMA has almost half its square mileage in Western Iowa, maybe about 150,000 people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omaha–Council_Bluffs_metropolitan_area I'm okay raiding the riverboat casinos for some of our stolen tax dollars, but I don't think we need to target Council Bluffs for anything else. 2 Quote Link to comment

You also can’t go off just my point of view as a citizen of Omaha. I can tell you for a fact what Omaha doesn’t think they are better than anyone else in the state… they just have their own crap to worry about. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

It's not that one area of the state is "better than the other", it's just that each area/city has their own stuff that is unique to their area and they have different things to worry/think about. It's different perspectives and points of view, and unfortunately it can be hard for people to understand other people's perspectives and points of view. Quote Link to comment

Can someone please tell my mother that when she comes up to Bellevue… it’s not like auburn Nebraska… it takes 40 mins to get there from west Omaha. It’s not just across town. Gosh!!! Toe
Damn, there's some dense people in this thread. 48% of the geographic area of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area is in Iowa, and 13% of the population is in Iowa. Now class, who can tell me which one of those figures is actually relevant in this discussion? I'll give you a hint: do you think Mickey Joseph is recruiting people to play football, or do you think he's trying recruit a plot of land to pull itself up out of the earth and come play football for the University of Nebraska? 2 1 Quote Link to comment

And I have several customers in Omaha and 90% are high maintenance. You are reading between the lines with very little knowledge Quote Link to comment
