The report does indeed speak for itself and that isn't what it says. But I appreciate your honesty in acknowledging you don't want to have a logical or factual discussion.

SO MUCH THIS. Disregard Barr. I actually would've preferred Sessions at this juncture because at least he was recused. Barr is nothing more than a lackey foot soldier putting the GOP above the country.

"This reads to me as an impeachment referral." Yes, that is exactly what it is. Mueller didn't think he had standing to charge the White House himself, so he provided the evidence to allow Congress to do it.

You're right. The report does speak for itself. Maybe pay particular attention to the part that says "If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment."

If someone is combing through the report to find a single smoking gun that will prove Trump's criminality, it's not going to be there. But as most of us who have paid attention over the past 3 years have already gathered, and what the Mueller report is confirming, is that the sheer totality of lies, obstruction, depravity, corruption, etc adds up to an overwhelming damnation of this horrible man and his horrible administration. The grounds for impeachment are there. Hell, they have been there all along. However, the important question is: will this information change the minds of any Republicans or Trump's base? Comprehending truth and fitting together the pieces of a massive puzzle do not seem to be things that the R's are capable of or interested in. Without the GOP members of congress, especially the Senate, turning on Trump, where does impeachment go? What will it take to change their minds?

Speaking of echo chamber - this was just put out by their campaign. It's breathtaking how effortlessly Trump and his cohorts lie.

Trump and his allies benefit if they're able to successfully make this a dichotomous outcome: Either they colluded with Russia or they did nothing wrong. Only simple people believe life happens in black and white, however. There are a lot of different shades and nuances to reality. Come to think of it, the way Trump pitches a lot of his political ideas is black and white, too. "Build that wall or crime rules all," "Repeal the ACA or you get horrible socialized medicine," "Tear children away from their families and terrorize them or they'll all just keep coming." "No oversight can be done on me or it's presidential harassment by angry Democrats." I could keep going. If you ever wonder why, refer back to the bit about simple people.

You beat me to posting this. This is most certainly the comments and mindset of an innocent man that expects to hear today that, as he has been saying for a couple weeks that he's "TOTALLY EXONERATED" Here are a few zingers since Barr's initial "summary": (Barr's summary came out on the 24th of March. See if you can tell the day/week that Trump and his team started getting briefing on the contents of the full report. He is a simple, simple man.

I'd like Trump supporters to admit this shows that Barr is a lackey trying to protect Trump instead of doing right by the American people. He's not independent of the White House. He's an extension of the White House, doing their bidding to scratch the back of the man who gave him his job. Barr is a fixer, just like Don the Con's old mobster fixer Roy Cohn. But I've got a feeling they'll just tell us this is appropriate because the whole thing is a fraud built on false premises and they need to just investigate Democrats whatever the cost.

I would bet good money this relates back to Barr's 2018 memorandum titled Mueller's "Obstruction" Theory. Remember, he had his mind made up regarding obstruction despite admitting: "I realize I am in the dark about many facts..." This is exactly why Trump appointed him.

As a bone to our Trump supporters who continue to post in these threads, let's remember back to one (just one!) of Obama's many scandals.

So sticking with the theme that Mueller believes certain actions are outside of his purview and must be left to others... This decision would seem to indicate he believes another group, perhaps an independent branch of government that is constitutionally-endowed with the power and duty to provide checks and balances on the other branches, should then interview Trump, correct? The answers they gave were inadequate. He didn't believe it was his job (or worth the fight) to force Trump to interview under oath. I've been called nuts recently for believing this, but it still seems to me we're slowly cruising towards an eventual testimony, under oath, by the president in front of Congress. Is that nuts?

And the crazy thing about this is, Disney spent four billion dollars on a franchise beloved the world over, and then allowed that to happen. It makes no sense to me that they would spend all that money and be such poor stewards of the story.

Twitter is crazy right now. It is obvious that the Trump and GOP strategy is to get the echo chamber going with "No Collusion and No Obstruction" as loudly as possible, when the report itself does not appear to support that. We are a country divided into two different realities.

^^^ My biggest problem with this administration is it's chock full of liars. Obviously Don Jr. lied about that meeting. But his dad helped him craft the lies. It isn't just normal political dishonesty and getting liberal (no pun intended) with the facts. It's like the most blatant, perpetual, credibility-destroying lies, on all matter of things big and small. This presidency started with a lie about inauguration crowd size. If they're all horrible liars, not much else matters. If you can't trust an administration or the president leading it, what good are they? Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to christen Barr "Dimestore John Goodman." He's certainly earned Ricketts-level disrespect from me.

And, I think this is a very valid point.

Man, pages 4 through 9 were pretty explosive and I haven't gotten any further. Trumps campaign and Russia have alot of links and contact, something we already thought, but now is confirmed. Not enough evidence for Mueller to charge with a federal crime, but I don't think the actions described in that section of the report are acceptable by POTUS.

The reaction from Trump and his supporters feels expected. Without a clear "he did it" and an indictment, that means "innocent" in their eyes.

Johnson tried to deconstruct a universe that didn't need deconstructed; a great example of how to properly do this is Thor: Ragnarok.

Barr essentially just said, "Yes, Trump was debatably obstructing justice because he was stessed out and angry over the investigation"

On cue, and as expected: Trump and his pet can attempt to control the narrative all they want. The truth will out.

If they had actually found NOTHING the full report minus grand jury information would have been released to the congressional judicial committees 10 days ago and we wouldn't be having this dog and pony show this morning.

Also, for those who didn't know, this isn't the first time Barr has used his position as AG to protect the president who appointed him. He did it for H.W. Bush with Iran-Contra, too. It appears the guy has a bit of a history of being a lackey who puts his party first.

That is certainly Trump's version of the matter. But the fact that perhaps Mueller is an apolitical lifelong Republican and those who comprised his team were selected not with regard for their partisan leanings but their expertise at their jobs. In fact, any time anyone working on that team (Think Strzok or Page or even McCabe, who was merely at the FBI) even gave the apperance of bias, they were summarily dismissed to maintain objectivity. I realize the fact that this was an objective, non-partisan investigation full of competent professionals and not a deep-state coup is inconvenient for the president and his men. Curious, too, that you know what's actually in the report. Unless you're just taking Trump's word for it at face value, which I wouldn't recommend - he's not a very trustworthy source, honestly.

I’m a big believer that you have to look at the tape and the stats, because one doesn’t replace the other. The tape shows the detail, the stats paint the picture. This is one of those examples. We were not as bad on third and short as our memories will have us believe. On third down as a whole, absolutely. 37% conversion rate. But 3rd and 3 or less? Passing 7 of 11 completions, 5 first downs. Conversion rate of 45%. Rushing 35 attempts, 27 first downs. Conversion rate of 77%. Total 70% We were actually in good company, especially in regards to rushing success on plays requiring 3 yards or less. The problem was both the percentage of downs longer than 3 yards and the conversion rate of those longer downs. On 3rd down passes requiring 7 yards or more, we converted only 7 of 43.

I mean, who among us DOESN'T remember Ken Starr helping Bill Clinton prepare a "counterreport" before anyone saw HIS report?
