  3. there is a difference between outrage and laughing at someone.

  4. It's also funny when a poster doesn't understand that holidays, like "Happy Donald Trump Jr. Finally Learned How To Spell 'Balloon' At Age 45 Day", should actually be capitalized. I mean, if you're doing the grammar thingy. Nice dunk though

  5. It's no surprise Republicans are so infatuated with these balloons. They're clowns after all.

  6. I’m also concerned about the “anti-woke” revolutionaries. They actually seem a bit more dangerous.

  7. Hey MAGAts, here’s a little helpful hint. when someone says that just about anyone is “The ONLY person” that can do something…..start looking for someone else to support.

  8. A saying comes to mind. Stupid: You can’t fix it. The proof has been in for a long time. The typical right-wing R voter is indeed stupid. They don’t want the truth, they only want their rage crops fed. Reasonable people’s first reaction is rightly that it’s a hysterical clown show. Unfortunately this thought falls by the wayside when we realize how real and dangerous it really is.

  9. Now that the right-wing talking points are starting to crystalize around Balloongate, how long until Board Gaslightyear chimes in and follows suit?

  10. And boy howdy did Frost disprove that drunk monkey theory

  11. No. Being outraged by that would be silly.

  16. I'm not sure the Republican voter is even aware how much they're being laughed at over this. They truly think that Biden was an American hating Chinese Communist who looks WEAK. And Trump would've NEVER allowed this. But they're a bankrupt political party with no policy to campaign on so they have nothing left but to fake outrage at eggs, stoves and baloons.

  17. You aren't wrong. Just when you think they've reached the performative outrage bottom-of-the-barrel, they continue to descend lower. The reason? Their voters not only allow it, they want it.

  18. Sure, in a year we don’t play them, I don’t think about them as much. But, CU still sucks and I wish they could go 0-12 every year.

  19. It’s utterly embarrassing that we have leaders at the top of our government that take a balloon and try to create fear and outrage over it. Instead, why aren’t they actually being leaders, telling the truth and calming the public? Its also embarrassing that so much of our public buys into their BS.

  20. You do realize the primary difference being that's some random guy on Twitter and that nearly the entire Republican party - including the Speaker of the House - acted outraged at the balloon? I mean I know you don't know the difference but I'm trying here.

  22. Yes, I'm aware of this. Nothing about this changes the outcomes that Texas power grid keeps failing during cold weather events. I'm totally fine with criticizing any politicians that are not trying to solve this problem regardless of party. By all means, show us what those politicians have or haven't done. Abbott (and the state government) can pass laws requiring the power companies (or others) to take different actions. Yes, the state could pass laws requiring tree management near power lines (example). The state could also pass laws for burying power lines where ice storms are likely to down power lines or bury existing power lines that get downed by an ice storm, which Abbott could be proposing right now in order to prevent this from happening again.

  25. Not getting along with other employees makes sense to get rid of someone. That's not at all the same as laying off some percentage of the entire workforce.

  28. is it me or does the alarmism sorta get drowned out by laughter when the word "balloon" is in it? They sound stupider than usual with this one, and I thought the gas stoves focus was pretty damn stupid.

  29. It's a f#&%in balloon people. We had plenty of time to hide anything we didn't want it to see. We know the locations of satellites and do the exact same thing. This thing was tracked from launch to downing, we knew it wouldn't see anything we didn't want it to.

  32. Haven't followed the ice storm story specifically, but the "we're Texas, we don't need the feds for anything" bluster most definitely showed its weakness in the last power grid imbroglio. I'm inclined to give it a bit more credence than an "I did that!" Biden sticker on a gas pump.

  33. Not sure the best place to put this, but I just talked to someone that works where Ochaun is working out preparing for the draft. He said he is making gains way faster compared to everyone else and the trainers are laughing about how bad our strength staff must have been. I'm sure that's common in a lot of industries to call out the previous work as shoddy but a lot of smoke that the previous staff was meh.

  34. If there are other areas that repeatedly have power outages in which people die, then those areas deserve the same criticism as Texas. Texas isn't suddenly off the hook because other places suck too. However, Texas has had this happen on a major scale 3 years in a row now, which I haven't seen in other states, so more criticism than other places is warranted. But we all know you want to turn a blind eye to what's happening in Texas because of the political party in charge there.
