  1. Digging a hole for the Goalsetter basketball hoop I bought for the boys really sucks in clay soil. Halfway there, 2 more feet to dig! Blah...

Pretty sure I started using a garden spade to chip away at the clay the last 6 to 10 inches. An augur would be a much better choice.

Try using the hard spray option on your garden hose. Its how they mine for gold

I've got some things I'm going to try before I go get an auger, but I don't know how far away I am from going to rent one. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

  2. Going on another cruise, taking the kids this time and we're going to drive. The questions is......do I avoid Atlanta all together and go through Nashville and Birmingham to get to Miami or drive right through Atlanta and say, "Hold my beer and watch this!?"

I second Moiraine's St. Louis suggestion. The City Museum is pretty great.

I found this website called roadtrippers.com and they have an app as well to set my road trip up. It's actually pretty cool because you can filter out what things you want to see along the way, if you want to make a special stop you can add it to your trip, etc. Pretty easy to change the route too, just click on the route and drag it to another highway/interstate if you want to avoid something.

We used roadtrippers when we drove to St Pete's beach from Omaha 2 years ago. We also drove through Atlanta and my only suggestion is if you do it find the lane you need/want and stay in it. Of course we drove through on a Monday evening so it wasn't that bad.

  3. May be looking at a move out of the State of Iowa in the near future if the legislature makes the changes they have proposed for public workers. It's a shame, Iowa was and always will be home, but I'll move on if need be.

We'll she gets a raise on her date of hire every year, cost of living raise and I can't remember what the 3rd raise was. I get two raises a year (cost of living and my date of hire anniversary raise). No sure why you're getting so bent out of shape over this?

    3. Apathy

      Apathy

Not to mention she only makes $19 an hour to deal with incompetent parents who abuse their kids or foster parents who don't know how to take care of kids. Her medical is going up dramatically and then to potentially lose her retirement is messed up. So before it was an ok paying job with great benefits to go to ok job with sh#tty benefits. And people want minimum wage to go up to $15...ridiculous

I'm not bent out of shape at all. Like I said, I'm sorry the sweet deal of 3 raises may be going away for you. But here in the private sector, owning a business, we're lucky if we can give out a raise every year or two and I've gone 2 or 3 years before without increasing my pay. Just trying to interject another POV.

  4. Congrats to Vincent Valentine on getting a Super Bowl Ring in his rookie season. Amazing Super Bowl......

Only reason I rooted for the Pats. Love to Huskers get rings.

  5. Pretty disappointing day.......

  6. Good god, Bo making it to the FBS final game isn't as bad as some of you are making it seem. You are making it sound like we'd be competing for a N.C. this year if he was still here. I seriously doubt we would've been any closer with him here. The guy was/is a nutcase.

So the MVC would go toe to toe with the B1G West, week in and week out? Mmmkay, good to know.

    3. mrandyk

      mrandyk

Top MVC teams would not go toe to toe with any division of any power 5 conference week in and week out. Injuries would set in and the 22 scholarship gap would become apparent.

    4. BIGREDIOWAN

      BIGREDIOWAN

There is no way I realistically believe that those teams would compete with the B1G West when NU can't even compete with the B1G West at times. We're wore down by the time November rolls around every year.

  7. Way to fight and never give up ladies! That's a Husker W, on to the regional final!

  8. My wife didn't believe me that I could vertical jump onto the kitchen counter from a standing position. Proved her wrong tonight! The look on her face was priceless! Old guy still has it dear......lol

I'm thinking they're a tad shorter than normal height, but don't know for sure. I just measured them at 35". My Assistant Chief chanllenged me in the high school weight room when we were doing an active shooter assessment that I couldn't vertical jump one of the higher boxes in there in full duty gear. Proved him wrong too! That was a couple years ago though. lol

  13. Additional quote of the day from Gameday's Chris Fowler, "Rutgers is going to have to figure out how to defend those receivers coming from the sidelines!" *annoying laugh from Desmond Howard*

I figured, you're a smart man lol. Rece is no Fowler. Fowler new his sh#t, Rece just wants to play up drama and run with the popular pinion.

So sorry to hear this. We had to put our beloved Buddy down in 2012. He was 13 years old and we just didn't want to see him suffer anymore. (On the bright side my oldest daughter told me later that day that I was going to be a grandma! Am loving that role!)

A little good news would be nice for sure. We've had nothing, but bad news around here lately. Now my other dog, who's 12, won't eat because I'm sure he misses the one we just put down. : (

When I was little my youngest brother who was like 5 told my mom he saw double. Mom freaked out he had a MRI done, came back negative then told my mom afterward hr could make himself to it with his finger to his nose. Good stuff

      JJ Husker

I've had a few MRI's and a couple CT Scans. Didn't mind them at all. Although the stuff they inject you with for the CT will warm you up and light your balls on fire. That's pretty weird.

  19. Everyone should probably just come to grips with the fact that Bo's staying. That win saved his job, hopefully there are HUGE changes on his coaching staff, but only time will tell. I don't think he's going anywhere now.

I never did, that win was big for him staying, IMO.

    3. Husker_x

      Husker_x

Sounds speculative. Beating a mediocre 7-5 team (who had an even more mediocre schedule to achieve that result) in overtime should have no bearing––none whatsoever––on the Big Picture. You know, the one Bo publicly admitted he doesn't worry about.

No. They'd have said something already. They're waiting for the games to end so we aren't discussion and the ax falls Sunday.

  20. Great job by the Huskers not giving up today and coming back and getting the win. Was refreshing for once to not completely fall apart after being down big!

It looks like there's almost no gloating, aside from the inevitable 'that guy' for whom winning the internet trumps being a fan. Most of the rest seem weary and heartsick.

  24. We had two bye weeks, right before MSU and right before Wisky. Both times we came out flat and got beat down which is piss poor effort on the coaches part preparing this team for a game. Blah....

I'm thinking the less contact time this staff has with the players, the better. Maybe just give em the week off and have em show up Saturday. Couldn't be any worse for sure.
