VA Husker Fan
No way we're in the top ten after today. 7-1 and leading what is still perceived to be an awful division in an awful conference. No joke - we should be glad to be in the top 15 the way everyone wrote off the Big Ten two weeks into the season. As sad as it is, I agree. Although, I do believe that it is ridiculous that some think that the ACC is a better conference than the Big Ten Just to point out an interesting little thing I've noticed... Last year, on any given Saturday during football season, I could catch at least three or four BTN games on BTN2GO or the BTN channel. This year started the same way, and people were saying our conference ducked and we'd never make it to the playoff... then something happened. Three or four BTN games each week have been shown on ABC/ESPN/2/U. Starting around week 5 or 6. Now, all of a sudden, the talking heads on ESPN are saying and writing articles about how MSU or tOSU and maybe Nebraska could make it to the playoff if one of those teams wins out. Hmmm... intersting coincidence. We've had 3 or 4 games shown on ABC/ESPN networks all season. In fact, 6 on Aug 30, 5 on Sept 6, and 6 on Sept 20. http://espn.go.com/college-football/conferences/schedule/_/id/5/big-ten-conference As we've moved into conference play there are fewer games with B1G teams since we're playing each other, so fewer games that fall to BTN. Not so hmmm worthy. They have started backtracking on one of the B1G teams making the playoffs though. That was way premature on their part, it seems, though we'll know more this week when the committee says something this week. Quote Link to comment
Kernal
I'm fine with #14-#16 or whatever, for now. Keep winning and the rankings will take care of themselves. I wouldn't say we're much better or worse than any other one-loss team right now. Quote Link to comment
southernoregonhusker
Has anybody in front of us lost yet today? No way we can jump 6 teams without any of them losing. KSU shut out Texas. Quote Link to comment
Norhusker
Has anybody in front of us lost yet today? No way we can jump 6 teams without any of them losing. KSU shut out Texas. Agreed. As Qmany indicated, we will move up the next 2 weeks provided we win. Many key match ups in the works in the top 20 during that span. Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
No. We are not a Top 10 team. We need a dominating offensive line and a defensive line that can play most teams on the line of scrimmage for a full game. If we were a Top 10 team, we would have beaten Sparty and not get our asses kicked for three quarters. Exactly. Slot about 7 for the $EC, then ND, Free Seafood University and MSU. Count 'Bility
well, LSU just got back in the top ten, so no. Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
Good question, how high will this put LSU? Would've South Carolina been in top 10 had they won? Quote Link to comment
The Dude
It's entirely possible the selection committee won't base the rankings on the polls. Quote Link to comment
Minnesota_husker
It's entirely possible the selection committee won't base the rankings on the polls. This.. but I also dont think we end up in the top 10. I think there are a few too many teams with 1 loss that people perceive as a better loss... even if our 1 loss is against a top 5 team(soon-to-be). Quote Link to comment

hskrfan4life
Good question, how high will this put LSU? Would've South Carolina been in top 10 had they won? LSU will jump into the top 10, and Ole Miss will drop to 6, because the SEC is "that good." Quote Link to comment
ZRod
We're not sniffing top 10 unless we win out. I can see us being in the top 10 if we win out after the Iowa game, given that a bunch of other teams will probably have 2 losses. But never before that. This conference blows, and the voters aren't stupid - they know this. We don't get brownie points for beating up on cripples like Illinois and Rutgers. We also looked like nothing close to a top 10 team against our only truly good opponent this year. So there's that. How are we any different than the SEC other than we couldn't beat them early in the year? We have good teams being tested by unranked teams, not losing to them. Nebraska didn't look any worse against MSU than #3 Ole Miss against #23 LSU or #1 Miss State against Kentucky. Quote Link to comment
deedsker
Playoff: Mississippi State Florida State Oregon Michigan State As of right now. Quote Link to comment
Minnesota_husker
Playoff: Mississippi State Florida State Oregon Michigan State As of right now. Sadly i think you can replace Michigan State with Alabama. There will be two SEC teams... uggghh Quote Link to comment
Hooked on Huskers
I looked over Coaches Poll last week (October 19). Actually our Huskers will probably decrease one slot from #16 to #17. LSU bypassed NU. Even worst, #19 Utah beat #21 U$C. Quote Link to comment
