B.B. Hemingway
Offensive Coordinator, sure. But even Tim Beck had to give Urban a double take when he said "QB Coach".... Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Not sure why everyone seems to think Meyer is the best coach in the country? My uncle joe with a bum leg could coach all that talent to 10+ wins. lol what is this nonsense Just saying. Guys good, sure, but best in the country?Gary Patterson says hello! The best coaches in the country don't need 5 star talent across the board to be "the best coach in the country"! Patterson is good no doubt but Urban is a little better. Patterson is 132-45 in his career. All at TCU Meyer is 141-26 in his career. Split between Utah, Florida and tOSU. Patterson started at TCU in 2000 and Meyer started at Utah in 2001. But the talent level is the difference! Meyer started Utah in 2003 and left in 2004. The WAC. And the Utes have largely held onto their success since. Basically, record is not the whole story. Utah was in the Mountain West then. Yes, it's not a Power 5 conference but going undefeated for a full year is nothing to down play.I don't know how people can say Meyer isn't a good coach. Part of being a college coach is bringing in the talent, and he has done that. With that talent he has won 2 NC's and is in a 3rd NC game tomorrow. His record speaks for itself. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Meyer also won at Bowling Green. I simply don't know how anyone can say he isn't a good coach, and I hate the guy. Quote Link to comment

Hayseed
Urban Meyer is one of those Jedi Knight type coaches.....probably related to Yoda.........so he must see something in Beck....putting up a bunch of points with a leaky offense full of injured players, pass option strategy, or something that he thinks would work well for a team that has 5-star recruits throwing pebbles at the coach's window every night. What's really weird is I'm sitting here drinking Beck's beer......don't seem like just a kwinker dinker to me. JJ Husker
This is impossible to believe. Beck provided zero proof, while at Nebraska, that he was even a passable OC let alone any sort of QB coach. Maybe Bo did limit what he would let him do bUT he sure as hell didn't provide any proof on the field that this sort of job was warranted. I just hope tOSU holds on to him for a few years. I wish Tim all the luck in the world but fear he may have used all that luck up already by being hired at the Buckeyes. If he was so great with QB's and calling plays, why were we only shown a few brief glimpses of any of his skill? Something doesn't add up here. Quote Link to comment

jaws
We will take him. He will call the plays along with Meyer and Ed Warinner #PurpleRaider. It is how it was done with Tom and this is how it is done on the defensive side of the ball. People thought the Chris Ash hire wasn't very good but it has turned out well for the Buckeyes this year. B.B. Hemingway
Clearly the only reason Meyer wanted Beck is because of this..... the play.... Don't mind the score Urban.... Quote Link to comment

You can rank them however you want but he at least belongs there. Quote Link to comment

My uncle joe with a bum leg could coach all that talent to 10+ wins. That is what I have been saying about Riley at NU... But I have been told more than a few times that Riley getting 7 wins next season would be good. Meyer is a stud...he clearly had his choice of almost anyone he wanted for this spot and he picked Beck, which says a lot, it might not mean he will be great at OSU but it clearly says a lot that he is the one that was picked. You've been told that by your fellow pearl clutchers. So...you are saying that 7 wins next year is horrible, correct? Quote Link to comment

Way to go out on a limb...I take it that means 9 wins Quote Link to comment
AFhusker
Will Beck be brining along Ganz to coach the QBs at OSU?He will likely be the QB coach, Urban will be calling the plays.Urban does not call plays. May bad, Warinner will be calling the plays. Beck will have input, but will mainly be the QB coach. Quote Link to comment
throwing bones
Interesting to see Beck go to one of the top progrums in the nation, and Bo fall all the way to the FCS. If I was being paid $3+ million as part of a buyout on top of the salary he is getting at Youngstown, I would take a job in my hometown too. It's not a matter of him dropping to FCS, but more his choice to do so. 1 Quote Link to comment
