lo country
Honestly, does anyone really care if anyone on the Husker football team smokes? Yes. It hurts the team and the reputation of the school. Kids look up to the players as role models. I don't want my children thinking smoking weed is a good idea nor have those who o as roll models. It's illegal regardless of personal opinion. Knowing it can get you suspended is also selfish as all get out. Your on a team. 1 Quote Link to comment

You wouldn't, just like you wouldn't for all the underage drinking that goes on. It doesn't really change what he said though. Quote Link to comment

That's not the point. They do/did get caught. When it becomes public it reflects bad on the team. Then in light of Randy and his missing some games makes one wonder if it wasn't/isn't more prevalent. I also have an issue with kids getting a free education and smoking weed. That's just me Quote Link to comment
mnhusker
Pot was a big deal in college in the late 1960s & throughout the 1970s. Harder drugs like heroin and cocaine had a brief heyday in the 1980s, but mostly it's been back to booze as the main "drug" of choice on campuses since then. Pot has always been a big deal in high school. Teens think it's instant cred, so while the "cool" kids are drinking their dad's beer and the "edgy" kids are into their dad's liquor, the "tough" kids smoke the ganj. It's been that way in high school forever. That's not to say pot isn't still a big deal on campus. It is - at least, as big a deal there as it is anywhere. Lawyers, dishwashers, doctors and grocery clerks smoke pot. So do a lot of college athletes, unfortunately. I'm not going to get into a big diatribe against pot. I smoked it back in the day, it shouldn't be illegal, yadda yadda yadda. But these guys know it's against team rules, outlawed by the NCAA, and (at this point) still illegal everywhere else. It's a dumb kid mistake to think they can smoke this stuff without repercussions, and I hate to see that. The girl on the WBB team, Randy Gregory, now these guys... it's just a mess. Kids being kids. Yea I think this pretty much sums up the way I see this issue. Quote Link to comment
onlyHskrfaninIL
The reefer madness is everywhere. In college, I could have walked thru the cafeteria at any given time of day and asked probably at least a dozen people if i need to buy some. And i went to a small school. My buddy and i used to roll oregano joints and leave them half burning in the bathroom of the dorm just to see who would pick them up. It was entertaining at the time. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
What is the impact of losing Boaz? None. Our 7th cornerback at best, and that is if you don't count Avery Anderson or Eric Lee...both who I predict will pass him by in fall camp if they haven't already. Quote Link to comment
Huskr25
So pot is a gateway drug...to fraud? Naw. Gateway to bike theft. Ha! Nice! I don't remember a lot of pot in the dorms but there sure could have been. I do remember that on Fridays you could basically hear everyone backpack making clanging sounds while filled with beer cans and bottles as they brought in the fun-juice. I agree. Drinking has always gone hand in hand with college for some of us anyway. I think pot use has always been there too but maybe is a little more prevalent now. I'm in my 40's though so I could be wrong on the pot thing since it's been a little bit since I went to school. Im a senior at a smaller college here in Nebraska. You're a minority if you dont smoke weed. Has been that way all 4 years ive been here 3 Quote Link to comment
The Dude
Honestly, does anyone really care if anyone on the Husker football team smokes? Honestly, I'd much rather they do that to deal with pain and inflammation than take legally prescribed opiates. In a perfect world, they would get it from a pharmacy so they would know they're getting a safe and effective product. If it's just for funsies, I'd rather they do that than drink alcohol. But it should all be up to them. 2 Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Honestly, does anyone really care if anyone on the Husker football team smokes? I care because it is illegal and against the rules of playing the game. Which comes with a penalty if caught. Which makes you a selfish person that doesn't care about the team. If you don't like the rule of not smoking weed while under scholarship, go play intramurals, brother. 2 Quote Link to comment
Red Five
What is the impact of losing Boaz? Zero on the field impact. And it means we now only need 2 more guys to leave to get to 85. Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
We haven't heard for sure that he is off the team, but it should be expected. Quote Link to comment
