huskerfan92
Has our new DC been mentioned in this thread yet? Yes +150 No -110 Considering there's been 7 pages suggesting it'll be Bud Foster, current head coaches or some offensive coaches. Going to put my life savings on "No" Quote Link to comment
marko polo
I'd go with Bray, personally. If we don't we're going to lose him sometime soon. He's a guy with a bright future ahead of him, and that's an opening we want to avoid. This could keep him at NU for quite some time. Then bring in someone who can devote more time to recruiting to help out and fill the open spot as a positions coach, as well as (again) raise the staff's recruiting ability. I like Bray, but prefer someone with more experience. What has he really accomplished? Quote Link to comment
Xmas32
Dream Hire would be Don Brown, Michigan's D Coordinator that was at BC for a ton of years. Nasty, nasty defense. I love me some Bob Shoop or Geoff Collins too. Not shocking hire would be someone like Clancy Pendergast who has been a mixed NFL and college D Coordinator that is currently at USC. I've seen Tosh Lupoi mentioned who would be a fireball recruiter. Alot depends on if Justin Wilcox gets the Cal job. Wilcox probably takes Lupoi with him which means NU might be able to snag Peter Sirmon who has been with Wilcox for a quite a while as a LB coach @ USC, UW and Tennessee. I thought of Geoff Collins too but I think he just became the Temple HC. Ahh, you are correct sir. Bummer. Quote Link to comment

zoogs
I mean, is that not enough? What kind of monster are you, marko polo? 1 Quote Link to comment
lo country
Mike Minter. He has done well at Campbell University. Has coached for a while, has a great resume and has some name cache. http://www.gocamels.com/sports/fball/coaches/mike_minter?view=bio Quote Link to comment
alwayshusking
I don't think Bray is a bad hire as DC. He's a good recruiter, put him with two more good recruiters to replace Banker and Stewart plus Williams/Parrella and we could have something on D. Risky but without talent every DC we hire is going to fall short of where we want them to be. I assume other schools have started to kick the tires on Bray as a DC as well. I think Riley will go outside personally. Quote Link to comment
southernoregonhusker
Wow. The Beaver in me says, "about flippin' time." I hope we go out and get a big name coach. It'll help with recruiting for sure. Quote Link to comment
Sker4Ever
So most would agree that we transition to the 3-4? Quote Link to comment
alwayshusking
So most would agree that we transition to the 3-4? If our recruiting of DEs keeps up we won't have an option 1 Quote Link to comment
GBRHouston
Try to fork out a sh#t ton of money and hire a known name. If that ends up not being an option, go with Bray. 1 Quote Link to comment
lo country
Like I said two years ago when Bo was fired. I hope it's not some dude I have to google to find out who he is and where he's from......For the record, I had to Google Riley. Quote Link to comment
Bigred_inSD
Jesus I was busy at work and finally got to the board. What a wonderful surprise this was. Quote Link to comment
GBRHouston
Nebraska was 19th in total defense this year but FWIW, played 8 of their 12 regular season games against schools in the bottom half of the country in offense. Wisconsin 64th Northwestern 67th Maryland 82nd Purdue 91st Minnesota 94th Iowa 117th Fresno State 122nd Illinois 125nd Quote Link to comment
C N Red
Two other names: Kevin Sherrer (was a DC at South Alabama and did well there and is primed to become a DC again at a Power 5 school) and Mel Tucker (current DC at Georgia who was #12 in total defense this past season). Both are in the the top 12 in recruiter rankings as well. http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CompositeCoachRankings Not bad choices and also maybe could get DE recruit Beal to follow one of them here. Sherrer is LB coach at Georgia and Beals lead recruiter. Quote Link to comment
