Well said my friend. I agree with pretty much all of that.

I think in particular Bernie could dispatch Trump in a debate. He'd probably do it with some humor, too. I think Warren or Biden could do so as well. I know Biden's debates have been underwhelming but I think he'd kick it up a notch actually being across the stage from Trump.

Well said on Clinton as well.

I think Biden knows less is more in the Dem primary. He knows Bernie and Warren can attack him on substance and it will work with Dem voters. In a debate with Trump, Biden wins hands down far and away. Trump doesn't know how to coherently attack policy and frankly Bidens policies are too centrist for Trump to attack with much success.

That is where the critic of Bernie comes in but as I said I think attacking Bernie for giving freebies will backfire considering the populist support for M4A and the current administration's comprehensive non plan for health care.

Do you honestly not understand the difference between someone who said something stupid as an off color joke one time and some one who: Has been sued twice for housing discrimination against A

He is.

I honestly don't know what will happen tomorrow. But if Joe Biden wins, you will be allowed to own all the guns you want, worship your God however you want, and hate whomever you want in the privacy o

i will say....the republicans are going to have a dream come true if sanders wins.   they will be running against someone who calls himself a socialist.   they will hammer that like trump would a porn star....and we have to admit that would be very effective for them.   having said that i will reaffirm that i will vote for bernie if he wins the democratic nomination but i think it will be a tougher battle than bernie supporters think it will be.

How is it that Trump has more political savvy than the so called geniuses in Washington? Trump knows Bernie will be tough. It was written months ago about Trump saying we cant just run on socialism because people love debt forgiveness. Hes also on tape saying Bernie is the only one he didnt want Clinton picking as VP. But yet voters cant grasp it. And washington pundits and strategists cant grasp it. And thats why Trump owns the republican party now because he knows more about politics than they do. Watch the video. This is a conservative talking.

Daou is in the tank for Bernie this cycle. That is not a bad thing but he is not an objective source and I disagree with his analysis. His homerism clouds his judgment.

He also worked for Hillary in 2016 and was in charge of the oppo on Bernie so if there is one person who knows its him.

Do you have any objective sources to support your claim that oppo research will hurt Bernie?

We'll never know how that would've gone because Bernie never made it to the general election. Clinton left the vast majority of the opposition on Sanders untouched because she could not afford to alienate any more of his voters than she inherently did.

No. It's an opinion.

But I didn't claim that oppo will definitively hurt Bernie; I said there's risk. We don't know how such attacks would be received. Here's an op-ed that lays out what I'm talking about pretty well. Ironically, most of what Daou laid out in that tweetstorm is either opinion or based on evidence we haven't seen and thus have to just believe him on.

One semi-objective thing I can offer: Regardless of circumstances or opinions, there's a good deal of political science that indicates less moderates candidates have a harder time getting elected. Think Goldwater or McGovern.

Sanders might actually be the Democratic nominee. Nobody knows if he’s electable.

Quote

In other words, it will be about “electability.” And much of it will be based on parts of Sanders’s history and record that have been in the public record but haven’t been much discussed. They certainly weren’t the basis for extended attacks from Hillary Clinton four years ago; she was too concerned about alienating his supporters once she won the nomination to go after him in any kind of sustained way.

So what we’ll be told — if you didn’t understand it already — is that Sanders has a long history as not just as a man of the left but a radical, one whose ideas are so outrageous that the general electorate could not possibly support him.

In support of that idea, we’ll hear about how he once advocated abolishing the CIA, how he once affiliated with the Trotskyite Socialist Workers Party, how he honeymooned in the Soviet Union, and how he praised Fidel Castro and the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. And then there are some old ruminations on male and female sexuality that are, let’s say, problematic, or at least ripe for being taken out of context.

All that has been reported before — and came up in 2016. But it wasn’t the subject of an extended, coordinated anti-Sanders campaign, the way it certainly would be in the fall and might be in the primaries, if Sanders’s opponents try to argue that he is too far left to win a general election.

There’s no doubt that Republicans would try to make that case, that Sanders is a crazy radical who would turn America into a communist hellscape where we will all have our property expropriated and be forced to stand on line in shapeless gray overcoats to get our monthly bread allotment.

The trouble is, we have no idea whether that kind of attack would work.

Democrats too.

He has more individual donors than any candidate.  More women donors and support.  More Hispanic support...and Andrew Yang just floated that if he dropped out he'd support Sanders.

I think Republicans are scared of Sanders and are willing to make up anything they can to NOT let him win.

and that is why the republicans are working overtime building the case that Biden is corrupt due to his son getting a job in Ukraine.

I still think that Biden gets the nomination (and if he does I can win my sweet a$$ bet!)

But, Sanders is clearly gaining ground.

Warren is done...and it doesn't help that she has no idea how to talk to people or answer questions in a a manner that doesn't turn off everyone.
