A HYPOTHETICAL question for you. Would you rather have Sanders at 50% chance at beating Trump or any other Dem at 70% be the nominee.

If this was the case any other dem. From all the data I have in front of me, I think he has a very good chance of beating Trump. I also think Biden can beat him. I think the rest would lose badly.

is it just me or does anyone else cringe whenever somebody slams the "MSM" in favor of their preferred far left or right view on something?  i pretty much ignore whatever they say whenever they use the term.   says to me they are getting their bullet points from a radical sight that claims it is the only source of "truth".

Im guessing this is directed towards me so ill answer. I think there are some MSM anchors and reporters that are great. I like Chris Hayes. I like Cuomo. Even Baer from Fox isnt terrible like their opinion people. A lot of them, however, like Matthews cant hide their bias. That is not up for debate. Anyone with eyes can see it. That is why I slam the MSM. They have their biases and thats fine as long as you admit it before hand and dont try and act like you are fair.

I agree...I don't know why there is this idea that Trump is going to lose to any D...but I think Biden is the only one that can beat him.

I will say this about Sanders.  Generally, I like the guy and will support him if he wins.  But I feel his ideas on taxes, just from what I've seen, may be enough to turn off even people who don't really like Trump, but don't disdain him either.  I think there are a lot of those just regular people, I used to be one of them, who don't pay much attention to what presidents do or all the political mudslinging in general.  Maybe they've heard enough about Trump to decide it's probably time for a change.  But..... then comes the whole taxes issue.  Which, I feel is big for these types of voters.  Because they do pay attention to their own finances.

For example, I'm going to be selling a stock I've held for quite a while to pay for some unforeseen expenses.  The capital gains are pretty good because of how long I've had it and the market is strong now.  Under Biden's plan, my taxes on this sale would be exactly what they are now, under Trump.  Under Sanders' plan the long-term capital gains taxes would be almost triple.

Now, I would gladly pay that much more if it means getting Trump out of the White House.  That difference may give a lot of other "regular people" something to think about though.

I'm just pointing out why I don't think Sanders may be the best option to defeat Trump.  Time will tell.

What would those higher capital gains taxes help fund? Would it be worth Medicare For All? Would it be worth a Green New Deal? Fixing our crumbling infrastructure? Etc.

What frustrates me about the tax debates is that what those taxes could do for people is usually overlooked.

Well, of course they would.  I'm not arguing that, but just pointing out how others may see it.

It's also frustrating because most of the proposed tax increases are no more onerous than they were in the pro-business days of Reagan, and far below the thriving American economy under Eisenhower.

We also tend to look at MFA, Green New Deal, and Free College as big government/socialist giveaways, when they are more likely to bring big returns to the economy for years, and will benefit free enterprise capitalists in ways we never talk about for some reason.
