That is a reaction of a very scared person. This is pathetic that we have such an imbecile as President.

I’m all for him being the first to try it. I’ve started IVs before, can I please do this?

its a game changer.

Honestly, how long are Republicans just going to pretend this is okay?

I can't stop thinking about this.  I've heard a few defenses online about how he didn't literally mean injecting Lysol...

Okay, so "at best" Trump was thinking the scientists and doctors should look into something that is medically sound and that could be injected and kill the virus.  In other words, a "cure".

So at best, Trump took the time to stand up and recommend scientists look into a cure like it is some great idea that he just dreamed up.  Or at worst, he recommends trying to inject disinfectant cleaner to kill the virus.

Either way is nuts and not at all serious!

I'm a republican.  I also think Trump is an idiot that says stupid things sometimes.  I have no intention of defending anything he says but I do think he was the correct person for the job at the time he was elected.  If the democrats could put a decent person up there to run against him it would be a fairly easy win imo.  Biden isn't that guy though so I'm guessing it will be close this fall.

Addressing the additional deaths in NY - Here is a quote from a guy seeing it first hand.  "I work for a Fairly large metro fire depart on east coast. Since the day the trump checks hit we have been crushed with heroin over doses. Generally we ride 5-6 a week(pre covid) We are currently around 18-20. Also noted the homeless are now drinking $50 bottles of scotch and brandy as opposed to the yellow listerine. My rookie noted the other day that the checks were more dangerous than covid.  Guess this proves you can’t throw money at problems."

That quote is a load of BS.  The only way you got a payment is if you filed income taxes and had them direct deposited.  How many of those homeless people or heroin addicts have done that do you think?

Stop believing total bull s#!t that spreads conspiracy theories.

Can you give us the link as to where you got that quote?

It came from another forum.  I don't know the guy personally so it may be?  It does make sense when you throw a lot of money into a situation where many of those didn't have free money before.  Alcohol and drug use has risen significantly across the nation.  https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/a-tale-of-two-epidemics-when-covid-19-and-opioid-addiction-collide-2020042019569

But it really doesn't matter what I post.  You are going to call BS on anything and spin it the way you want- just like much of the media is doing.

Just totally unbelievable.  This buffoon is the leader of the free world - normal title given to the POTUS. But these aren't normal times - he is an embarrassment to our nation.  Why Amendment 25 hasn't been and isn't currently being pushed by those insiders is literally a crime in my view. Trump is a danger to this country, an existential threat to us, and by their connection, the insiders are also a threat due to their inaction.  The current GOP group needs to be soundly defeated this fall to remove this stain from our nation.

Below article states that trump gets rebuked but he still has to try to save face and comes out looking even worse

if that is at all possible.   With him having to come across as the smartest guy in the room, he always ends up as the dumbest. He has such a low self esteem that he can't figure out that he is out of his league and needs to keep his mouth shut and let the experts do the talking. He is a micro-controller.  He has a need to control everything and every conversation. If he were just a layperson at some ordinary job we might have pity on him but he by his own will and deceit

placed himself in the position to get elected and to sit in an office he is clearly not qualified for and is extremely out of his league.  :rant

Minutes later, ABC News’ Jon Karl revisited Trump’s totally unfounded claims in a question to Bryan, asking if there was any scenario in which a human could be injected with bleach or isopropyl alcohol to treat the virus.

Bryan’s answer, diplomatically delivered with Trump standing just behind his left shoulder, effectively dismissed the idea. “We don’t do that in our labs,” he added.

Trump, however, not letting it go, tried to salvage his medical reputation, which includes no formal schooling at all, and jumped in to elaborate on his earlier comments.

“Not cleaning through injection,” Trump said, waving his hand as if to demonstrate his imagined procedure. “Almost a cleaning, sterilization of an area. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t work. But it certainly has a big effect if it’s on a stationary object.”

We're not spinning anything. What you posted literally doesn't make sense with what the reality is. It would be highly unlikely that a homeless person got a COVID check. This is the same "story" that comes up all the time when someone mentions money being give out.

As far as increased drug use, it makes sense. It's a very stressful time, people don't have many outlets to turn to right now, and support systems like AA or NA probably aren't having their typical meetings.

Good video - calling trump as the snake oil huckster that he is

The speaker says that this is the most inept response to a crisis in American history.   Every misleading thing he has said or done is on video and he won't be able to walk away from it.

Soo...you post a quote from a random message board person that literally has no way of being within the realm of reality.....and I'm being unreasonable for calling it BS.

Also, I skimmed the article you posted.  I didn't see it.  Could you please point out where in the article it talks about drug use and overdoses have increased because they received an assistance check?

I never said you were unreasonable.  It is clear you are convinced so you are not likely to try to understand another's opinion.

I'll be done with this thread after this post.  No harm intended, I just feel differently than you.  I do take the virus very seriously and have had first hand exposure to it.  It's not something I would wish on anyone.  I know a lot of people are sick and some will not make it.  My stance is that I believe some are capitalizing on a very bad situation and they should be called out- regardless of their political affiliation.
