Because in many cultures, men are the ones that would take on this journey, get into the US, get a job and established, then work to get their families here.

Are you confused, or do you not understand why they choose the path they do?

 

For obvious reasons it's easier to make landfall in Central/South America and then travel overland to the US southern border (even Cuban immigrants do this now). If you come up from South America you have to cross the Darien gap (Southern Panama/Northern Colombia). Considered to be the most dangerous place on earth because there are no roads, no law, cartels, native tribes, extreme terrain, and unpredictable weather as it's the rainiest place on earth.

What western nations? I'm assuming Europe? Think about why you might want to hop on a boat or plane to the Americas and go over land from there, rather than trek expansive mountain ranges, cross vast deserts, and go through literal war zones.

Locally, there are hundreds of single Somalian and Syrian men. One apartment complex in GI is nothing but Muslim men. A couple of parks in town had to put up cctv to monitor the drinking/drugs/fights.

 

Anecdotal I know.

Syrian? Do you mean Sudanese? There isn't really a significant (like, less than 200) Syrian immigrant population in this state.

 

There are at least as many Sudanese and Somali women in Nebraska.

 

But if you're talking about these communities, you aren't talking about illegal immigrants.

They aren't Sudanese, but maybe they're not from Syria. They are middle Eastern in appearance, not African. Not sure if not Syrian, but that's what we've heard.

 

Regardless, they are virtually all single men living together.
