  1. Trump has had a rocky relationship with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for months, mostly because Tillerson doesn't adhere to Trump's policy of kowtowing to Russia, but Trump has taken pains to assure everyone that Tillerson is his guy. Yesterday, Trump's White House refused to name Russia as responsible for the nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy on British soil, failing to support our greatest ally in their allegations against Putin. Rex Tillerson wasn't having that, and directly stated that Russia was the culprit. Less than 24 hours later, Trump fires Tillerson. The spin from Team Trump is that Tillerson was fired last week, effective today. It's a lie. Tillerson left on a diplomatic trip to Africa, scheduled to last through Tuesday. You don't go on that trip if you're already fired. There's a clear line of progression here. Russia poisons ex-spy Skripal Britain names Russia as the culprit Trump refuses to back Britian Tillerson states unequivocally that Russia is to blame Trump fires Tillerson "No Collusion." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. Yep, and it's a lie. I addressed that already knowing that would be the spin. If he was fired last week there's no reason to send him on a diplomatic trip to Africa. If he was fired last week there's no reason to abruptly end that trip before it's scheduled to end. If he was fired last week it would have been announced 1) last Friday in Trump's typical news-burying dump, or 2) Monday when business resumed. If he was fired last week his replacement would have been announced Monday in some kind of show. This was clearly another Trump temper tantrum because someone didn't kowtow to Trump's constant refrain of "Russia didn't do anything wrong."

  4. POB was blackballed by his teammates when he got here. He came in acting like the savior and was immediately shot down. He also didn't take the weight room seriously at all in his first two years. You know who didn't start off this way? Tristan. Langs hinted at Gebbia being second string after spring but that it was in the best interest to redshirting him. That's impressive. If you watch the football come out of each's hand, Gebbia's has more zip. Gebbia is more accurate and there is enough tape to see that. Gebbia's release is elite. Based on what I saw in the UAA game, paired with a year and a half of not throwing the ball, Adrian will not have enough to unseat the other two. If for some reason, the staff elects to go with AM, I would imagine it has everything to do with his legs and the belief that eventually he will come through. I just do not see how he can come in and out-quarterback the other two. To me, its up to Gebbia. If he wants it, he will get the nod.

  5. I heard Rush in the car during lunch today. Not surprising he sees all of this as a positive. Here is my paraphrase of what he said: 1. Trump has a new level of confidence - as in self confidence. Trump recently said he doesn't need so many advisors. He's good to go on his own. 2. Trump felt compelled when he was newly elected to get 'competent people' who could help him wt the learning curve. 3. DC Insiders encouraged Trump to hire people who didn't always agree wt him but who were competent - thus Tillerson 4. Tillerson and Trump disagreed on many things - climate change, Russia, Iran, etc 5. Trump riding the wave of confidence can now be rid of staff who don't think like him 6. Trump can now have staff that think like him. 7. Trump will now proceed to make decision without the encumbrance of advisors and he can rely on his own intuition and wisdom. 8. There will be greater unity in the admin with these staff changes. (Yes men make no waves. Yes that is how we want govt to operate ) I wanted to do this but I was driving. The blind hypocrisy of much of the conservative press (at least the talking heads in talk radio & Fox News) is a big reason why I may vote Dem just to reset the narrative & the structure in DC. If the repubs in Congress or any adults in the admin (I'm looking straight at you Mike Pence - stop hiding behind that half smile/smirk and your shallow words of support) do not have enough ethical courage to do the right thing and remove this guy, then it is time to vote in Dems who will. This is more important than our (my) pet political philosophy (economic, social, etc). With this guy in the office, none of our political opinions or positions will matter when he is done destroying our rule of law, constitutional safe guards and traditions. We need a drastic reset in DC. Every day it gets clearer and clearer.

  6. Minority report is out and boy is it interesting. Lordy, sounds like there are tapes. "The Minority has a good faith reason to believe that the White House does in fact possess such documentation memorializing President Trump’s conversations with Director Comey."

  8. The rationale for Tillerson accepting a job he didn't want is reportedly similar to John Kelly and General Mattis: they could tell Trump really needed them and thought they could be a voice of reason in an administration of novices and grandstanders. I'm sure I don't align with these three guys politically, but they retained a bit of integrity that many in the clown car lacked. If they are indeed patriots with integrity, they could prove it by going public with the President's dangerous dysfunction.

  10. Also, I'm probably the guy who used the word blogger, which may not literally apply to Butcher. But it's no secret that there is a formula for driving viral views, and it's a legitimate technique for writers who need to promote themselves, which they all do. It's a tough business. The unsettling feeling I got reading Butcher's piece was the number of personal but unattributed anecdotes she compiled that fit so perfectly into her share-friendly thesis. There is a long history of talented writers, male and female, who are later revealed to have made up most of their sources, believing that their fiction served the greater good. Maybe it does. But there was something too personal, too deliberate, and too cringe-worthy in Butcher's essay to make me think it was an honest (or researched) take on the bigger story.

  11. I know what you said and I’m just telling you what I see. Gebbia throws a better ball, is more accurate, is a better leader, and picks up the offense quicker.

  12. He was. But, I find myself disappointed in this change because I also thought he at least resembled an adult in the room that was willing to say how he felt and not just say what Trump wanted to hear.

  14. Tristan has been impressive at every level. He understands the game and has a really good arm. I don't need a ton of college film to see those qualities. Some kids have the it factor and he has it. He took Adrian under his wing for two reasons: Reason one: He wants the best environment in that locker room, and he wants what is best for Nebraska. Second Reason: He knows he is really good and that the only way Adrian gets that job, is if he plays out of his mind from the get-go. Thats the kind of leader I want on this team.

  15. POB also played in a similar system in HS and is a pretty good runner. He was also the higher rated player coming out of HS over Gebbia. Everyone seems to be in love with the shifty was Gebbia showed in last year’s spring game, but POB was more the runner in HS.

  17. Sometimes people have sex with people they don't love. Sometimes one person is a lot more into it than the other. Sometimes people are perfectly conscious of what they're doing and do it anyway. Sometimes they feel bad about it. Sometimes they don't. This is the umpteenth post where you have nobly offered to define morality for others. I don't think that's the trait you're looking for.

  18. Ok, if you want to know what Trump backers are thinking, look no further than Jerome Crosi. Newsmax is pushing his book as a free gift to subscribe to their magazine. Does Jerome Crosi sound familiar - it will if you are a dem and supported John Kerry for president. Crosi 'swift boated' him with his book during the election. Jerome, never far from conspiracy theories, also led the discussion with his book on the inevitable North American Union. According to Crosi - the deep state is the real enemy, the real law breaking villain in this whole Russia saga. https://w3.newsmax.com/general/nmm/offers/killing-the-deep-state-disc?dkt_nbr=070101uwae1x

  19. Saw a tweet that said POTUS is in a better mood than he's been in for a long, long time. They said it was because "He's finally running the WH like he ran the Trump organization and he loves it." So I would assume that means he fires anybody who dares challenge him and anyone who doesn't kiss his butt better watch out. That is NOT how we should run our government. But, you know what they say: Pride comes before the fall. Hope he enjoys his time before the sh#t hits the fan.

  20. Let's not be so quick to judge the less enthusiastic, who willingly bring partners to orgasm because it makes them happy. Every night, millions of people come like racehorses while their partner is already thinking about that piece of cake in the kitchen, the game about to start on TV, or perhaps someplace else they'd rather be. "Consent" means both parties signed up for it. Satisfaction is never guaranteed. If "enthusiastic" is a requirement, our legal system will be clogged for centuries.

  22. No, not "oh, god." Not unless you're willing to entertain the idea that she's exaggerating the story, because if not, you're not giving equal respect to both genders in this situation, which is what you're vociferously demanding we do in the rest of this thread. We cannot right the wrongs of sexism by giving immediate credence to any accusation made by any woman against any man. We must soberly address the facts on a case-by-case basis. Trampling the rights of Aziz Ansari is not a path to gender equality.

  25. Moiraine, what 2 of us did you think want Dems to win congress?? Just wondering. that question aside - after considering the SOS firing today and the ongoing blinders in place by congressional repubs and the lack of ethical and political courage of repubs inside and outside of the admin - I think what is best for our nation is a total reset of DC. The repubs don't deserve to lead - they have failed. They have become the party of Trump and that is not what I signed up for. They have failed on the legislative end and they have failed to protect the country from the monster we have in the WH. So if I wasn't in your original list of 2 - I am now. I cannot be apart of empowering the administration by supporting republicans who are in collusion wt Trump. The nation's political health is more important than my pet political philosophy & positions at this time. We can over come wrong policy in time, but it is a slow march back to political soundness once it has rotten from within by allowing a political hack and despot to lead us (and some people believe he will win in 2020 - we can't allow that to even be an option)

  27. It's not surprising, talk radio has been like this for two decades at this point. They are the propaganda arm of the R party. They firmly believe that no matter what evils their members commit they are justified, because winning at all costs in elections keeps those god hating, tax loving, queer liberals from ruining their country. I mean at this point the republican party has all but directly said to the country, we will do anything to win elections and hold onto power and it's all justified, there will be no accountability because there is no line that shouldn't be crossed if it means keeping those liberals out of office. We see it every week from Washington on down.

  29. I've now been accused of being sexist against women about 5 times on this topic and it continues to be f'ing ridiculous. Because it was pretty much just me talking about it, with maybe one comment here and there by someone else. I don't give a s#!t whether she's a man or a woman, and who referred to her as a blogger? I also don't give a s#!t that she's an award winning author, or whatever. Her writing here spoke for itself - the piece was awful. Loads of people think Freud was a great psychologist. I think he was a moron. It seems pretty sexist to me to imagine that anyone who doesn't like the article and calls it overdramatic is doing so because the author is a woman. She doesn't need your protection.

  30. Lest anyone thinks this thread is an endorsement of Tillerson, here's some perspective on one of Trump's "best people" (that he always ends up firing or driving away). It's not. Tillerson was awful as Sec of State. Let's be clear.

  32. I was born in Kansas. Lived in McCook Neb when i was very young. Moved to Oklahoma and ended up in Texas in 2nd grade. Surrounded by Texas people I always get the question how did you become a Husker fan. MY reply. You wouldn't understand. I have a freshman and sophomore that play football. I am in Husker gear 5 out of the 7 days of the week. When I would show up to practice or games kids would look at me like I was a scout lol.. My sophomore has been a fan of Nebraska since he started playing football mostly due to me of coarse. But that all changed 2 years ago when we made our 1st trip to Lincoln for a game. When we walked out of the tunnel onto the field he looked at his mom and I and said.. I will play here. Attended FNL last year and fell even more into love with the school and what they represent. We will be back this summer for the FNL and Line camp in June.

  33. I guess the way I saw it was "Hey, you can continue on with your cushy oil exec job, making zillions of dollars or you can quit that to go work for a madman in one of the most challenging and highly scrutinized cabinet roles." Even if you get to put the job title on your resume, I'm not sure it'd have been worth it.

The suits that get paid by the NRA and are influenced by the Kremlin and god knows who else were the ones to actually look at info and get it right. It's not a "love fest" so much. The data is just very limited and it's the most promising point of data we have. If we get more information that points in a different direction, we'll see people changing their predictions.

  40. if you really wanted to drain the swamp, you wouldn't listen to the Republican or Democratic establishment at all. That was the appeal of both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, and if anyone says they predicted their success in 2015, they're lying. Trump genuinely hates the Republican establishment. And he hates the Democratic establishment even more. But he doesn't want to drain the swamp. He doesn't want to do the Koch's and Mercer's bidding either, although he does so incidentally. He doesn't have a plan for anything, really. Because he doesn't want the job. But Donald Trump does drive the liberal media insane, and that's what Hannity, et. al. love most about him.
