  1. In regards to the platform itself, regardless of who owns it, Twitter as an app is much better now than what is what pre-Elon takeover.

  2. A straighshooter. Really, truly cared about Conservatism and his America First Agenda. Then George Soros and the evil DEMON-crats won in 2020 and Trump, who I voted for twice, just isn't the same now. There was no possible way for me to know that such an honest, Patriotic, hard working American would turn on a dime like this. Luckily I won't be duped again, Ron DeSantis is as genuine as they come!

  4. Don't know when I've ever talked about coaches for you to word vomit all this out about my opinion which you aren't aware of. My opinion of successful coaches is based off of results. Sure, they all failed if a championship is the only metric of success, but if that's the case then 29 out of 30 coaches are failures every year. We've seen a rash of coaches who, shortly after winning championships, or after building franchises into consistent contenders for deep playoff runs and conference titles, get axed with little to zero room for patience. Sounds like those are the decisions being made based off feelings. Overall it's pretty wild that Spoelstra and Malone have a combined 23 years at their respective franchises without having been s#!tcanned yet. Nice to see reason and patience win out with these two teams.

  8. My 16 year old nephew tore his ACL last fall playing football. He had surgery in October and by April he was squatting at nearly full strength again. He is now running and playing baseball. He lost spring baseball but is going to be playing all summer and says he feels 100% now. His biggest concern was speed, which used to be his best attribute, but he hit a triple his first game back a couple weeks ago and looked good. ACL is not a two year injury the way it used to be. Especially with young, healthy athletes, the recovery may go quicker than you think. The hardest part for my nephew was the first couple months after the surgery of no weight bearing and feeling super bummed as a result. But after that the rehab went really well. I was shocked at how quickly he regained his speed and strength. At your son's age, he should be able to come back stronger than ever. Get the surgery and follow doctor's orders. Be patient in the early going and then work hard (and carefully) when the knee is ready.

  9. Well good thing we've never beaten ourselves before and have only ever been beaten by the quality of our opponent.

  12. You are exactly right. You have to complete the play and make sure the game is over before you start to celebrate.

  13. A good chunk of the Republican Caucas are 'No' votes on any legislation. It turns out that "Gubmint is bad!" as a political gambit means you get morons and grifters in government. Since these people can't be appeased with anything other than the dissolution of government in general, you get what you see today.

  15. Tough way to lose but gotta say I’m a bit glad that went down the way it did. Maybe some kids will learn to delay the celebration and make sure to finish the game. Have to believe the catcher thought he tagged him but he could’ve thrown it to 1st to be safe.

  16. Whoever purchases tickets to CU football this summer at these prices are likely going to be offloading the later games for much cheaper by the time they get to mid-season and realize that their team is still a joke. Too bad the Nebraska game is so early in the season. As soon as CU puts their product on the field with no depth and a bunch of FCS starters, interest will wane pretty quickly.

  18. Elon offered and paid a premium. It was bad timing on his part. Tech was getting hammered with the rate increases and twitters valuation would have fallen along with the other had there not been an offer on the table.

  21. And there was a lot of talk about Malone losing his job without a deep run this season too. Hockey and basketball coaches have a very short shelf life, that's for sure. As far as the Finals go, I'm pretty optimistic. After going through the combinations of KAT/Edwards, KD/Booker, and LeBron/AD, I just don't feel like Miami has the firepower that they need to beat the Nuggets in a 7 game series. Of course, they also went through the 1, 2, and 5 seeds in the East to get to the Finals, so I don't think anyone can count them out by any means. I just feel like Denver has such a balanced team this year and Miami will struggle to put up the points necessary to get the wins in this series. I like the Nuggets in 5, but that could just be wishful fandom on my part. Can't wait to get things started tomorrow night!

  24. Little snarky, Admo. Maybe misses the point, too. As mentioned, 29 coaches every year won't win a championship, and 28 will get knocked out before the Finals, and you're saying the Big Picture demands they be on the hotseat because the window is ALWAYS closing. And if not the coach who got you that far, who do you go with? The big name hire who is available because he failed to close too? Budenholzer is two years removed from an NBA Championship with essentially the same players, who he also coached up to the best record in a very competitive NBA this season. Getting bushwacked by the Heat in the First Round seems inexcusable. But is it, really? Did he forget how to coach? Lue deserved a second chance with the Clippers, but he didn't deserve Kawai Leonard and Paul George watching in street clothes with the season on the line. You can go either way on how good a coach Jason Kidd is, but you can't blame him for some of the terrible decisions made by Mavericks management. You can definitely say Monty Williams, Doc Rivers, and Mazulla had huge teamwide meltdowns in the clutch, and that genuinely makes their coaching suspect, but they were also more successful than 80% of the coaches who didn't get fired. If anything, the lesson is that teams who get all or nothing about their Championship window -- catering to veteran superstars, making trades that favor numbers over chemistry, letting the coach know he is always on the hotseat -- might be sabotaging their own chances. The Nets, the Sixers, the Suns, the Mavericks, and to a lesser extent the Celtics, Warriors, and Lakers fit that mold. At this point it would be more fun to be a Sacramento or Oklahoma City fan: lots of young talent and nowhere to go but up. To look at it another way, Mike Malone is the toast of the NBA this year. But Mike didn't decide to have a healthy Jamal Murray and Michael Porter, Jr. this year. That was just bad luck replaced by good luck, and that s#!t happens, too. All of which makes what Spoelstra's doing pretty remarkable. Had the same just over .500 Heat team lost that play-in game to the Bulls (in which they trailed in the fourth quarter) you could make the argument that Spoelstra's shelf life had expired and they needed to move on to protect the Jimmy Butler/Bam Adabayo/Tyler Herro window.

  26. They'd rather teach kids how to dodge bullets than avoid unwanted pregnancies. They're tacitly saying that they aren't going to attempt to prevent school shootings, so here's how to cope with them. Winnie-the-Pooh teaches kids about mass shootings Dallas elementary school students were given free copies of a Winnie-the-Pooh book this month. But the book isn't about the delightful imaginary world of Pooh and his friends. "Stay Safe," featuring an image of the beloved character on the cover, is about what to do during school shootings. Why it matters: The book, published by a Houston-based crisis management firm, concerned some parents, who weren't given a warning or context about it and weren't prepared to talk about such a serious topic with children as young as 5, according to the Oak Cliff Advocate. One parent called the book "haunting" and "tone deaf." The district later apologized in a statement: "Unfortunately, we did not provide parents any guide or context. We apologize for the confusion and are thankful to parents who reached out to assist us in being better partners." Details: Using images of Pooh and his friends, which entered the public domain last year, the book attempts to teach kids the concept of "run, hide, fight," the active shooter response recommended by the FBI. "If danger finds us, don't stay, run away," reads one line. "If we can't get away, we have to fight with all our might." "When the danger is gone, we should not fuss," reads another. "Instead, wait for a teacher or the police to come and find us."

  31. I would like the Ghost of Archy to name ANY Trump policy. It can't just be the angry position he posts on Twitter, or rants to a crowd of sycophants. By "policy" I want to know how Trump defines a problem, the steps government can take to correct it, and why it's a national priority. They only thing Post-2020 Trump has added to his "policy" positions is the conviction that he didn't lose the 2020 Presidency and loyalists can prove themselves by expressing zero doubt in the conspiracy against the once and future President. Trump himself remains the same horrible person Archy voted for twice.

A good discussion on the B1G media deal and a great rant by a national CFB media guy (Steven Godfrey) on the B1G old guard being afraid to play in chilly temps after the sun goes down starts at around the 36 minute mark.
