  2. They were 30th in yards per carry though. Not really wanting to run the ball is different than not being able to (only 5 teams had fewer carries per game) - it was an effective running game when used. Whether using it more would have tanked their numbers isn't answered by the graph.

  3. This is probably the worst take of gun nuts, and there are a lot of bad takes.

  4. I'll also point out a few other things just to end this silliness. The stretch of "dominance" claimed by Minnesota pales in comparison to Nebraska's 90s results. Minnesota only played 8 games each of the following seasons where you claim they were "dominant" for the same amount of time. 1934 was a shared title with Alabama. 1935 was a shared title with SMU and TCU. 1936 was a shared title with Pitt. They didn't even win the Big 10 that year and no bowl game again. 1940 was a shared title with Stanford and Tenn. Minnesota didn't play in any bowl games through the above stretch. Minnesota has never won a title that wasn't shared, ever. Minnesota played in 6 bowl games prior to 2000. Nebraska played in 37. Minnesota has played in a total of 24 bowl games all time. Nebraska sits at 53. There is no historical comparison worth making, period.

  5. We've seen the impact transfers can have immediately (Palmer & Toure). It makes no sense to not bring in experienced/established talent at this point.

  6. This is an awful decision by FoxNews to host this TH at that time. Trump has refused to debate and he should not be given the opportunity to derail the existing debates with counter programming from a major news network. Shame on them for doing this.
    4 points
  7. Yep. Just because we have some good talent coming back (which I think we do), that doesn't mean the staff shouldn't go out and try to find even better and more experienced. They need to constantly be trying to improve the team....and it seems they agree.

  8. Yes, and his hand picked justices are going to work hard to find those outs....even though they aren't really upholding the constitution.
    4 points
  9. And, something missing in this is that they were running wide open a lot more than those stats indicate but, we didn’t have QBs that could get them the ball.
    4 points
  10. You are correct. Trump has hand picked enough justices to not give a s#!t about the constitution and rule in favor of him.
    4 points
  11. Woah, that's not entirely true. I said people who voted for Trump twice should look themselves in the mirror, and if they don't recognize the danger their voting preferences pose, they should kindly step away from the voting booth. Mocking Trump voters isn't the same thing as advocating for changes in voting laws.

  12. The 'ol pass the tax burden onto the poorest strategy, ya love to see it. But hey, if the people of Nebraska want the tax burden on the poorest Nebraskans, so be it. I own a house and welcome saving money. Screw those dirty poor people and their dirty hungry children.

  14. I acted like the decision SCOTUS makes is the Constitutional one we have to abide by up to the point a different argument is made, brought through the court system and the Court takes up that case The interpretation of what’s Constitutional or not is up to the 9 Justices, not you or I. We can only have opinions about it.

  15. You do realize their last "championship", was in 1960. They finished 8-2- somehow ahead of the one loss Washington team that beat them in the Rose Bowl and ahead of undefeated Missouri, Yale & Ole Miss... Sounds very "dominant" ... smh

  16. Yeah, I wasn't necessarily even creating profiles for guys who we offered. Once they schedule a visit, then they're interested and get a profile. At least that's my take.

  17. They don’t have to work hard at all to find them. Those very real legal arguments will be presented to them And whatever decision they make will be upholding the constitution and hence giving clarity to an un-clarified Amendment.

  19. Why is this even a thread? Even the talking heads that hate on Nebraska every chance they get call the program a blue blood program. Go stomp around someone else’s bridge.

  20. It's interesting to use disenfranchised minorities in a case for opposing gun control, and it's certainly a popular device for conservatives making Second Amendment arguments to liberals. But if the Blacks of Tulsa Oklahoma had been better armed and displayed a willingness to use them, they would have become the very threat the racists were warning against and no one would have opposed the full Army moving in. Should Blacks, Hispanics and perhaps the stray Anarchist today open carry in a show of defiance to the misuse of "state power" I'm not sure the same Patriots would embrace them. Native American genocide probably couldn't have been avoided with more guns -- but I don't think the same Patriots want to consider American Manifest Destiny a misuse of power, seeing as many are Christian Nationalists.

  21. Yup. Here is the "experience" that we return at WR for 2024: IGC 48 career receptions (44 of those were at NM St in 2020-21, and I assume he is coming back, but who knows) Bullock 15 career receptions Coleman 8 career receptions Lloyd 6 career receptions Doss 2 career receptions

That was like being at one of your friends house when you were a kid...and their Mom or Dad goes off on them....and all you can do is stand there, trying to not make a sound, totally embarrassed for them. 28. I’m in agreement with you here and it’s unfortunate. Politicians far too often use these crises as election platforms and not wanting to actually solve the problem

  29. I never said laws should be changed. I said voters should look themselves in the mirror if they've previously voted for Trump and if they plan on voting for him in 2024 they should kindly not visit a voting booth because it's not a place they should be. Are rural voters dumb? On average, yes. But that's an entirely different discussion. Making poor electoral choices and holding contradictory political opinions doesn't mean I think those people shouldn't vote; they should change how they vote. It just so happens that a huge majority of those same voters are also Trump voters which is why they shouldn't show up to the polls in November because the country is better off if they don't.

  30. It seems to me that if the staff is asking portal WR to visit, then they think we need some help there. I don’t see it as an indictment of the young guys. We need some veterans, and more depth bc of injuries.

  31. The Athletic did a survey of players in the Under Armor All-American game about NIL, recruiting media, what coaches they liked the best/worst, etc. For people who want to know more about NIL, here is what they said around how much they were getting and how it factored into their decision (and keep in mind these are top players, 4* and 5* guys) Recruiting confidential: High school football stars dish on NIL deals, arrogant coaches and more Did you sign with the school that offered you the best NIL deal? If not, how much did you leave on the table to sign with where you ultimately decided to go? • It wasn’t a big difference for me in terms of the total package. All the schools offered about $300,000 to $400,000 per year with the ability to earn more. • I left some money on the table, about $50,000. But I signed with my dream school. • The dollar figures were similar so NIL wasn’t a priority for me. I’m worried about the big bucks later. My relationship with the coaches, watching them practice and seeing it was really was the biggest factor. • I had another school offer me the same NIL deal in total, but with a signing bonus. The signing bonus would’ve been basically a really nice car. The NIL deal is like an NFL rookie contract. I had an agent handle it all for me. As soon as NIL came out, my dad was like, “You need an agent.” When schools call, they have the position coach, head coach and the money man from the collective call you. That last guy is the one who talks about NIL with the agent. • I signed with the team that gave me the best chance to make the NFL, not the most NIL money. • I didn’t sign with the school who offered me the biggest NIL deal I could’ve gotten, but coming from where I come from, any money I receive from a college is life-changing money. • I signed completely off the bond I built with coaches. I didn’t start talking about NIL until recently. I’ll be making about $80,000 to $100,000 per year. A couple other schools had similar offers. • No, I didn’t. I signed with (my school) and they gave me like $90,000. I feel like it’s not really about the money for me and I like (my school). … I want to say (my best offer was about) $200,000. They came in the process late and (my school) was there since my freshman year so it was easy. • I didn’t sign with the school who offered the biggest deal. In total, it was probably about $300,000 in difference for the three years. Why did I go to the school offering less money? Because in the long run I could go somewhere where I can stay focused — not be distracted — and get on the field right away. • I signed with the school who offered me the best NIL deal. Other schools threw a lot of big numbers out, but the school I signed with I trusted I’d get the money because I saw other guys got it. • I left some money on the table. I didn’t bring up NIL until my official visits. One team told me if I committed early and helped bring other guys in, they’d give me $40,000 a month up until I signed. But I didn’t sign with them. • To be honest, I didn’t. I don’t really look at all that stuff right now. I (chose) the school that, I wouldn’t say showed the best love, but it was a school where I just really liked being around the people and I felt like I could make an impact there. … I’ll get (NIL) later on. I think I’m looking to invest in myself now and then get a bigger bag later on. • I’m not sure. I didn’t really ask about NIL, money-wise. That wasn’t really on my mind. I knew it was gonna come, but I just wasn’t really concerned about it.

  36. Honestly, I never had an issue with them putting one second back on the clock against Nebraska. Watching it live, when the ball hit the stands I looked at the clock and still saw one second left. I expected them to put that second back on the whole time. We screwed up way too many times leading up to that to blame the one second.

  37. I would tend to agree with you, though I stopped letting that stuff bother me so much since it happens with every candidate and news org. its more concerning to me they would allow and take part in the counter programming.

  38. Huskers are 5.5 point favorites with an over/under of 151.5. ESPN BPI gives them a 72.6% chance to win. Mast is a game time decision, Keita is out, who knows with Lloyd. Ulis is still suspended. GBR!

  41. I think the conversation is specifically around parity at the very top, not just in general. Basement dweller teams winning 8-11 games in one random year or even over a period of a few with the right coach isn't that novel and has happened plenty of times.

  42. I don't know if "career receptions" is supposed to be drama, but... Huskers Qbs threw 10 touchdowns. Fidone, Coleman, Lloyd, Bullock had 54 catches and 9 touchdowns. So what's the problem? All were first year players. Except Bullock. Doss redshirted. IGC injured first game. Do players not grow and improve from year 1 to year 2, or am I missing something? Because 9 touchdowns says a lot more than you want to admit. Thankfully they got on the field this past season. It was year one. And a lot of college receivers don't shine their initial season, but become valuable threats in year 2, and even more in year 3. Which means we are on track like everyone else who has played 1st year players. Receivers that go to the portal want Money, along with being the first read every play. I don't think there are good ones out there that deserve all of that coming here.
