  1. The people vetting these migrants knew. You just found out about it from some post on a racist website, and panicked. You asked yesterday why sources matter. That's why sources matter. That racist website wrote that piece in that specific way to provoke exactly that response in you. Now that you know this is neither uncontrolled nor illegal, you can let it go.

  2. I mean, you jumped to a conclusion based off some shady sources (Elon especially so). Not sure why anyone would think a president would implement a program to bring unverified immigrants into the country. That's stupid all around, and it would be one of the most idiotic things they could do in a campaign year. I appreciate that you get your news from some non-traditional sources, and it does add to the conversations on this board, but it's also becoming readily apparent that in recent weeks/months your sources are leaning pretty far right wing conspiracy. I just hope you continue to search for the truth and not fall victim to the manipulation.

  3. Or --- and hear me out --- it could be having policies that are supported by a majority of Americans being cockblocked by Republicans, including Republicans who supported similar policies back when Republicans would get the credit. Not to mention having America's #1 news network demonizing policies they willfully misrepresent as extreme. I will give you the border crisis, which the Biden administration underestimated and obfuscated until they realized it was perhaps THE electoral hot button. But as you and I both agreed, it's not as though a conservative policy is more easily implemented or likely to succeed.

  4. No, but there's a hell of a lot of stuff I don't know about and it's not because it's some clandestine secret from the government. I did always figure there was some process on line that people could use to apply to get into the country. That's basically what this is.

  5. Reading comprehension should be a focus in our schools. The headline states, very clearly, that the word "secretly" is unfounded. It is not a secret. They publish the numbers every month. The AP article gives a breakdown of these parolees by nationality. The racist CIS article that started this whole stupid conversation insinuated that this was some clandestine effort to bring bad people to America. It's nothing like that, at all. America's economy depends on these workers. Yeah, they're a different race than you. That doesn't make it a problem.

  6. This may help explain why he is having such an issue (at least with current polling which can change quickly) with the electorate. Especially when facing a historically unpopular opponent that is basically doing nothing to capture voters outside his own base except tell them to go away. Biden should be cruising to re-election and win in a today’s partisan version of a Regan blowout. His extreme Liberal policies as you mention are preventing this.

  9. Why are you so concerned about people who are vetted coming from countries they want to flee into the US? And why do you care if they come across a land border or go through customs in an international airport?

  10. This program has been going on for over a year. Hundreds of thousands of people have been flown in over that time. The news would have reported on it if there was a problem, like violent crime spikes in the towns they've come to, or roving gangs attacking people in their homes. Seems like that should have happened by now, and that would make the news. Or, maybe, these people are just coming here, living quiet lives, getting work and enjoying feeling safe, and they're not a problem at all.

  13. My hot take: I don't mind Friday night primetime games, and prefer them to Saturday 10 AM kickoffs even. College football should either be played under the lights, at least to end from afternoon kicks or be night kicks altogether. I also don't care at all if it overlaps with HS football.

  17. Winning/losing head-to-head really should have nothing to do with it. My issue with Painter winning is that Purdue was expected to win the conference & they did + they have the likely national player of the year on the team. Winning with the best player in the country when you are expected to win is not award worthy. It should either go to Hoiberg or Johnson from Minnesota. Those are the teams that did the best compared to expectations.

  18. Mr. Bruntz on 1620 kind of hinted that he's speculating that Purdue's Painter will be awarded coach of the year honors. That would be a huge crime considering his program lost to Fred & company in the only head to head.

  19. I don't think Biden has a lot of popular support. I think most people are like me - I'm never voting for the other guy, so it's Biden. Edit to add - This will be the third straight election that the Democrats have put up a candidate that has big popularity problems. Clinton in 2016, and now Biden in 2020 & 2024. They absolutely cannot afford to do that in 2028. Someone much younger, much more charismatic, has to be on that ticket.

HuffPo: A Shocking Number Of Minnesota Democrats Cast ‘Uncommitted’ Ballots Nearly 20% of Minnesota Democratic voters opted to vote “uncommitted” in Tuesday’s presidential primary, as efforts gain momentum to send a message to President Joe Biden about his backing of Israel amid the soaring civilian casualties in its war in Gaza.

  31. Yesterday I didn't know if they were vetted, and neither did anyone else. I have been researching the issue, and found the following thread that helped me with some of my questions. While the poster's references are his own media...which I normally roll my eyes at...I found quite a bit of information was useful. It is a long thread. Again, I am FOR legal immigration, I realize that the majority of folks that are here in Central NE are only trying to provide a better life for their families, and often do the jobs that others won't do...but I want that to happen after the uncontrolled illegal entries are managed with a more secure border.

  36. I do appreciate the well articulated post, and I agree with most of it. I do disagree with the "Not Trump" portion at the end, because the Biden Presidency has been the most liberal Presidency from a policy standpoint in decades. The idea that Biden is simply the "not Trump" option that doesn't deliver positive policy outcomes is frankly just wrong.

  42. And there would be NO reason to 'hold your nose' in voting for Biden with all that was stated by Biden in that post. Common Ground - yes the common ground of Democracy and all the good our country stands for. This is what Drudge has as one of his headlines. It tells me Trump will be in trouble in Nov. Haley getting 1/3 of the vote running basically against an incumbent who had all of the advantages. There are a lot of voters who could / should go Biden's way. TRUMP: 1,541,026 VOTES HALEY: 763,763 VOTES

  46. Some of that blame goes on the coaching staff. When the line has to wait sooo long at the line of scrimmage while they do the fake snap thing and then look at the sidelines for 5 seconds then finally get a play going it’s not as easy as it seems for lineman to not get twitchy.
