Guard a three stupid Gophers. Now another overtime before the Husker game!
-
Harrison Phillips is now the nations leader in tackles with 100. Nebraska coaches just keep on giving. Noah Fant, Nate Bazata, Harrison P. Easton Stick.

@TonyStalloni yup and why you don’t let suits pick the players for YOUR system.
-
@BoSolich Phillips was on Bo, Stick was on Bo, Fant was a mixture, Bazata was on Bo Did Riley miss on in state guys, sure and I'm fearful of what Williams will do to us in the future, but it's been 3 straight coaches that have had issues with identifying Nebraska talent.
-
Hunter Salis is on the floor right now for Gonzaga and getting lots of build up from the announcers.
-
Husker coaches need to offer a kid from Bixby Okla named Braylen Presley. He is an electric football player. A 2022 kid.
-
I find it interesting that Malaki Branham was named freshman of the year in the Big Ten. He had been named freshman of the week three times this year. The award didn't go to Bryce McGowens who was freshman of the year 8 times and had better numbers. Must be payback for beating OSU in Columbus.

I think the playoff system may be in a bind now. The two final teams are both from the same conference. They will likely lose some viewership. Both were beaten in the regular season by Auburn. Georgia came back in the CCG to beat Auburn by 6. The committee worked their tails off keeping UCF out of the playoffs. Now UCF beats Auburn by 7. I'm guessing their solution will be to expand to 8 teams rather than keeping it at 4 with only conference champions eligible.
-
If they are going to use conference championship as a criteria then they need to be faithful to that decision. I know the argument of 'what if that conference champion is 6-6. Well, tough. I like the idea of an 8 game play off system. That way all of he conference champs are in plus a Group of 5 Winner. Leaving UCF out was a major mistake. How cool would it have been to see them play Alabama, Clemson, Georgia or even Oklahoma? This year's championship is going to be BORING! I wish we could see a true playoff like they have in basketball or volleyball. That would be exciting. But college football is all about money now. It's crap.
I'm just mad. I'll get off my soapbox now.
-
we are a very small part of the viewing audience....but if none of us watch the ESPNSEC championship game it might be worth doing what we can to help damage their ratings. Alabama may win the damn game...but they didn't fairly earn their chance to be there. FCU and OHIO state earned it more than bama did.

If Nebraska gets out of our slump mostly due to the portal and starts winning games again at a crazy pace for a couple years, how long do you think it will take the Big Ten to put a limit on the number of portal players a team can grab in one year?
-
Not sure. But I also think things will change fairly soon (or settle down) with NIL and the transfer portal. A monster was created out of a good idea originally. Too many hands F'd it up. The original idea was good and helpful (with NIL and transferring). Without leadership and rules in place for all to follow, this is what you get.
-
I guess what I'm comparing it to is the decision when the Big 12 was formed that restricted the number of Prop 48 players a school could enroll per year. The vote was 11-1against the policy that Nebraska used to it's advantage. It was one way to bring the Husker program back to earth after many years of success.

It’s great to see O lineman Hunter Anthony from Oklahoma St chose to transfer to the Huskers. He played yesterday in their bowl game win over Notre Dame

Lincoln and Lancaster Co have decided to not host the State High School Football Championships at Memorial this year. All games will be hosted by the higher seed of the two remaining teams in each bracket.

Matt Davidson for Wisconsin basketball is still up to his dirty tricks. I saw him hook a defenders arm and then fall to the ground pulling the defender down. It tricked the ref to call the foul on the defender.
-
Nebraska's entry (from Hastings) in the Little League World Series won their game this afternoon vs New Jersey by a score of 5-2.
-
Now I remember why I dislike watching Vanderbilt at the CWS. The 3 chant whistle would drive me nuts if I was sitting near that guy.
-
Part of me wants OSU to win but another part feels like I need to take a long shower to get clean if I do.
-
Penn St has already lost their OC today and might possibly lose their DC as well. On the other hand Ohio St has two coordinators who have both already been head coaches elsewhere but may never get a job outside of Columbus till Urban retires or fires them because they have limited appeal for possible shady backgrounds. Was even a peep made when they were hired under Urban?

I highly doubt that. It was in a Washington Post article and Clay Travis lead that revolt at Tennessee. OSU does the co-coordinator thing on offense and defense because most of their coordinators only stay for 2 years before they get a HC job (or in Tim Beck's case shipped off to somewhere else). There are rumors of a 2 year commitment when taking a coordinator job at OSU under Meyer. Meyer has stated he wants motivated coaches working under him that have the desire to be a HC. It is the nature of success. The Schiano hire was never supposed to be a long term solution at DC.

Remember Michael Jacobson the basketball player who played for Tim Miles? Never played a down of football at Nebraska or Iowa St. Now plays TE for the Indianapolis Colts and caught a touchdown last night.
-
I remember Keith Neubert who played 4 years of basketball at NU in the late 80s, before having a bit of a career in the NFL. I couldn't remember if he played any football at NU, but it turns out he played 1 year with the football team.

RIP Gilbert Gottfried. Dead at age 67.
-
Singer/actor “Meatloaf” passed away yesterday at age 74.

Sounds like Harrison Phillips is dominating the Pac 12. Thank you Bo P....the gift that keeps on giving!
-
Teddy Allen had 37 points for New Mex St in their win over U Conn.
-
His uncle is a friend of mine, here in Tucson. Told his uncle he couldn't get along with the coach, at Neb.
Was told he also was a little hard to control. Little bit of a wild streak, in him. You could see a little of that in Thursday's game.
He did play a heck of a game. To bad he couldn't have stuck around, our program.
GBR!!!

Texas comes within a whisker of beating Bama. Washington St beat Wisconsin. App State beat Texas A & M.

Thanks for very little BTN. The lead stories on the BTN home page are a review of Gopher football and 3 points by basketball announcer Jon Crispin. Only one brief interview with Kenzie Maloney about volleyball at the bottom of the page. Just wondering if it was OSU and Michigan in the finals would it have made your front page. Your bias for the Big 2 and the little twelve is noted. There are some brief stories in the volleyball section.

So a story about Minnesota football is an earthmover? Having no stories about regular season victories in "minor sports" is one thing. Having two teams in the Final Four and one of those in the finals of what is one of three "major sports" for women. If they are so concerned about making money maybe they should think about growing their viewership for women.
-
Content decisions are based off of news judgements, audience and analytics. There's a good chance that Minnesota football story may be more germane to their audience than volleyball coverage.
I'm not saying you're wrong. You can make an argument that 'analytics be damned - write about a great story.' There's always a balance there. Just keep their audience in mind. They're writing for fan bases of 14 schools where football is, by far and away, the dominant interest.

The vaunted powerhouse Big Ten gets no one in the Final Four. Michigan lays a huge egg.
-
We are last in football Big Ten recruiting. Even Rutgers and Indiana had their best classes in many years. From bottom to top it ranks like this:
14. Nebraska13. Wisconsin
12. Northwestern
11. Illinois
10. Minnesota
9. Iowa
8. Purdue
7. Maryland
6. Rutgers
5. Mich St
4. Indiana
3. Michigan
2. Penn St
1. Ohio St
Number one through seven are all East Division teams.

The excuses being given for why it's a small class are just that: excuses. When you have a small class, you should be focused on quality. This class should've been comprised of primarily 4* with a couple high 3*. Do you ever see any top-tier programs taking a year "off" of recruiting for ANY reason? Heck no.

We had chances and the holding penalties bite us in the a$$ again but damn refs call the interference like you would if Wisconsin was on offense.
