  1. Scott is saying all the right things so far.  It took me a long time to be sold on his loyalty to Nebraska, but I don't have any doubt at this point.

and he is bringing back the walk on program.  He stated that every Nebraska kid dreams about running out of that tunnel and the fact that kids like this bleed and sacrifice for the team!

I noticed as soon as he was announced you could tell he was holding back the tears.

  2. With Mullen going to Florida, I will be absolutely shocked at this point if Frost isn't N.

  3. Two weeks from today I have my next post-op appointment and am hoping to get the good news that I can start walking again.  It's amazing how easy it is to take something like being able to walk for granted.  I had surgery to repair my shattered ankle just over a month ago, and it's been a long month.

Hang in there! I hope you can start putting some weight in that ankle in a couple of weeks!

I was in your shoes (pun intended) exactly a year ago.  Good mobility is a precious gift.  Hang in there.

  4. It's gotten to the point where I'm more angry about seeing our fans on social media complain and personally attack the players/coaches after a loss than I am about the actual outcome of the game.

    1. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

There are quite a few fans that are out of line and showing their ugly side.  I suspect alcohol is involved in many cases.  Others just live and die with Husker football.

    2. NM11046

      NM11046

You should have always been at that point.  The negativity and attacks are completely out of line and they help no one.  This board has become a cancer as well.  Disappointing to say the least, as I live away from the state and this was a nice place to come to talk to like minded folks.

       Losing reveals true character.

  5. Kaepernick is now planning to file a grievance against the NFL team owners for collusion since none of them want to sign him.  None of them want to sign me either, for the same reason.

Actually, I don't pay much attention to the NFL anymore. The whole thing is too business like with a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. I barely make the time to watch my two favorite teams, Broncos and Packers, play every once in awhile. I watched all of about 5 minutes of the Denver game last night. I used to love the NBA and the NFL. I absolutely can't stand the NBA and the NFL does nothing for me. It's no longer a game played for pride.  There is no loyalty to anything except the mighty dollar.  The NHL is the only professional league I like. So I really don't care about Kaepernick or the NFL. And yes, I do think all of them should be more modest with their views. They play a damn game and get paid obscenely well for it. They should be thankful they don't have to really work for a living.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

And I'm not pretending the NFL doesn't put the clamps on controversy when it comes to marketing their product. What responsible business doesn't try to maintain a certain image? I just really don't feel this is anything approaching collusion or even the league putting clamps on controversy. My gut tells me he might be getting a little more opportunity without this issue but I also don't feel it is the thing keeping him off a roster. I sure don't think it's some wide ranging, league mandated blackballing. Maybe the lesson is, if you're a bubble player then you better fly a little straighter and not act like you're indispensable because you are. I would do the exact same thing with hiring decisions in my business. If I had 10 people apply for one job opening and they're all about equal skill and experience but say one has a history of work comp claims, why in the world would I choose the guy that presents a possible liability? That's not collusion, that's just the way life works. It shouldn't shock anybody.

  6. I forgot the Huskers played tonight.  Apparently, so did they.

  7. Just got out of surgery to fix my ankle, it was dislocated and broken in three different places.  It's been a rough last few days, but on the plus side, my anesthesiologist was Rob Zatechka.

Rob is awesome.  He and I talked about the Glory days for several minutes.

For those who are curious, it happened playing disc golf, of all things.  I was out at Seymour Smith after it rained and slipped and fell down a hill.  It wasn't pretty.

My husband tore his Achilles' tendon a few years ago just stepping over a cord on the golf course to retrieve a golf ball! So weird how those things can happen to relatively healthy people!

  8. Whatever happens with our coaching situation, I'd love to see Chris Del Conte get the permanent AD job.

You gotta at least call Greg Byrne and make him say no.  Nebraska can offer more money (shockingly, Alabama is 'only' paying him $900k) plus a chance to bring Nebraska back to glory.  Plus, his dad was the AD here...just spitballing.  I don't blame Del Conte for turning down the Texas job, talk about inmates running the asylum.

    3. schriznoeder

Maybe Del Conte could bring Patterson with him. Let's make it a package deal!

  9. Rest in peace, Sam Foltz and Mike Sadler. Both classy young men who worked hard and showed great leadership both on and off the field, both gone way too soon...

Thankfully they didn't really do any permanent damage, they just ripped the center piece out and left it wedged against the shifter (pain in the butt to get it back in place, but it wasn't damaged). I noticed the other day that the top of the piece was popped out, so I wonder if they didn't try it another time and get spooked. Probably somebody in this apartment complex.

      Hoosker

That sucks. I've had my stereo stolen from my jeep. Tough break, man. Could've been worse

  14. I swear, some of our fans are more annoying than the Iowa fans that were talking crap about us after they beat us. Heaven forbid we be happy that Iowa lost last night without considering for half a second that we had a crappy season.

I've seen a lot of people on Facebook posting that they're glad Iowa lost last night, and our own fans are commenting on those posts reminding us that Iowa beat us and we went 5-7 this year. It's like some of our own fans are taking every opportunity they can to talk negatively about the Huskers.

  15. Michigan State is playing some nasty football tonight. Would love to see them carry this momentum into the B1G Championship.

    1. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Yeah they used the same 'run out of bounds run back in bounds play that we used on them. Of course there will be no question of whether it was legit or not with them.

  16. If browsing Facebook tonight has taught me anything, it's that either Tommy Armstrong was to blame for the loss tonight or the coaches were, but not both.

    1. RedSavage

      RedSavage

I wish Tommy the best in the future but I hope we never have to see him take another snap. This is the first lost all season that I blame entirely on him. Where there some boneheaded calls by the coaches? Yes. Would they have even mattered or been called with mediocre qb play? No.

  17. Since I predicted a Nebraska loss for the first time this year in the prediction contest thread, I'm going to go ahead and take credit for the win tonight. You're welcome, everybody.

  19. If you ask the average person how long ago 1995 was, they'd say, "Duh, 20 years." If you asked a Husker fan, they would tell you that it was an eternity ago.

This is off the mark, when was the last time Notre Dame won a national championship? You don't think their fanbase wants to win right now?

    2. Hammerhead

      Hammerhead

It's not that it's been so long since Nebraska has won a national championship, it's that we're so far removed from what we had in 1995 that it hardly even feels like the same program anymore. Nebraska was synonymous with greatness in the 90's, and maybe even the early 2000s. Now our football program is the punchline of a bad joke.
