funhusker
We're not NU, not UNL. We're f_____ Nebraska. I just got up off my couch and ran THROUGH my front door, ran screaming onto my driveway, and put my forehead through my driverside window Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
That'd be neat, but it's NU vs NW... Sorry to say it is not NU vs NW, It is NU vs UNL. They earned that right to be called NU! Give them their respect. Please argue it. Northwestern has: An all time record of 489-622-44 (.442) 1 Bowl win 8 Conference Titles 37 Football All Americans (total) 33 Academic All-Americans 0 Heismans 0 National Titles Nebraska has: An all time record of 850–351–40 (.701) 24 Bowl wins 43 Conference Titles 109 Football All Americans (just first team) 102 Academic All Americans 3 Heismans 5 National Titles One year does not a legacy make. Nebraska is the real and only NU. Northwestern is largely irrelevant. 1 Quote Link to comment

Give them their respect. Please argue it. Well, we've been NU (unofficially) for a long time. I'd say we have at least an equal claim to NU, but if our new conference mates insist on Northwestern being NU, I don't have a huge problem making that concession. "Cornhuskers" and "Blackshirts" are way more important to me than being known as NU. I guess...it's kind of like Oklahoma State and Ohio State. I'd much rather be known as UNL than adopt some kind of deal where it appears we're puffing out our chests and adding a t for "the" before NU, or something along those lines. (I put "appears" in italics because I know Buckeye fans are sensitive about this, and an OSU regular on HB, whose name escapes me but is someone I like and respect, gave a pretty reasonable explanation for why it's more on the tradition side of the fence than the arrogance side.) Irregardless (is not a word,) we play every year. This is the perfect opportunity to circumvent the forced trophy thing and actually play for something that seems to matter to both sides. Winner is NU for the rest of the season and the beginning of the following year, until both teams play again. I think that's a lot more appealing than a "Hy-Vee Hero" trophy. That stupid rivalry name and it's stupid trophy are the first thing our new AD needs to get scrapped. Quote Link to comment
The Maudfather
Absolutely not. Trbl, trrrrrbl, trrrrrrbl idea. Doesn't everyone remember when Northwestern played Illinois at Wrigley Field and they could only go in one direction on offensive plays? Quote Link to comment

I love the Friendly Confines almost as much as Memorial (almost,) but that sounds like some kind of rec league game. No thanks. Quote Link to comment
3rd and long
I think a game at Wrigley would be appropriate. I've read so many times "wait til next year", or "next year is our year" that playing where the Cubs plays seems to make perfect sense. Quote Link to comment
Creighton Duke
This is one of the worst Huskerboard arguments: University of Nebraska - UN Northwestern University - NU It's that simple. Done. Quote Link to comment

Vizsla1
Bad idea to play at Wrigley. Nebraska does not need a gimmick to sell football tickets (not yet anyway)- Soldier Field would be ideal and well attended. Quote Link to comment

Nebula
The Battle For NU - an idea proposed last year. I remember that. I actually don't want it to be a trophy game though. I think that is what might make it cool and unique. The Big 10 has too many trophies already anyway, and the best ones are like a century old. We can't compete with that. But simply playing for the name could be kind of a neato, keen little deal Trophies should just kinda...evolve and appear. You get designers and corporate sponsors and deadlines in there, and you get this kind of thing: Quote Link to comment
Hooked on Huskers
http://www.omaha.com.../NEWS/310169981 Link to poss game in 2014. If so I'm there Why? Ryan Field is terrible or what? Probably wrong but I remember right, Wrigley field is shared teams with one sideline. Quote Link to comment

We will call ourselves until we give up the legalities to the phrase. Quote Link to comment
