ZRod
Does it really matter. One of them either TA or JS will transfer before finishing their career here lol. I wouldn't be so sure about that, there are a lot of reasons for them to stay. If they are both as good as they are billed to be I could see us going to some kind of 2 QB system if one is more mobile or a better passer than the other. Even if we didn't do that the starter is going to get banged up at some point, and the other guy could see decent playing time. And assuming Stanton is the #2 he will have an entire year to prove himself anyways. Quote Link to comment
Goal-line
Do any of you on this forum remember when Tommy Fraizer and Berringer both were hurt and the third string guy, by the name of Matt Turman, had to run the offense? And, this was done during Osborne's first championship season. This is why I asked the question about our current situation. If Martinez remains hurt (it is a possibility), and something happens to either Armstrong or Kellog, (or both) does Pelini risk the redshirt season of Stanton? What are the options? It was never my intent to imply that Armstrong or Kellog could not do the job. No. Not unless Armstrong AND Kellog go down, Taylor gets WAY worse (he could play right now), Ryker Fyfe goes down. If all of that happened then maybe you look at Stanton over Broekmeir (SP?). Frazier and Berringer went down so the 3rd string guy came in yes, but Stanton is the 5 or more likely 6th guy this year. Big difference. I doubt seriously that Stanton is the #5 or #6 guy. My bet is that if push came to shove, Stanton would be in the top 3 mix. Quote Link to comment
Ulty
One thing is clear: Stanton is likely to be one of next year's most popular Huskers, and every interception or punt following an Armstrong-led drive next year will result in multiple threads calling for Armstrong's benching. 1 Quote Link to comment

It was never my intent to imply that Armstrong or Kellog could not do the job. We've got 2 healthy, capable QBs and our 3 year starter is most likely healthy enough to return if he has to. If we get down to just one of the three being healthy enough to play, I'd guess Stanton will be on the sidelines ready to go, just like Beck was when his redshirt was burned. Not sure if they'd use Stanton ahead of Fyfe and Broekemeier. It hardly seems like a burning question that has to be answered now. Â For those who say there is no possible way Stanton's RS is burned, what good does it do Pelini to save it if this season goes down the tubes and he is canned? He's not going to be stupid and bring Stanton in to get a few snaps just so he'll be ready just in case this QB apocalypse happens, but the Beck scenario is certainly reasonable. We have clearly already saw our top 3 are Taylor, Tommy and RK3. That isn't a knock on JS's talent...but we need to try to save his RS if at all possible. In a short squeeze we would use Fyfe and maybe Broekmeir before JS....extended time might be more of a question. But that would involve 3 other QB's being hurt to the extent of not being able to gut it out. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I don't care what the situation is, you don't play Stanton at all this year. Especially now that it is halfway through the season. Quote Link to comment
I am I
Harrison Beck sighting in this thread. Quote Link to comment
EZ-E
I'd like to see Johnny Stanton used next year like Florida used Tebow. Goal-line sets as a battering ram. Quote Link to comment

If it was your job on the line I'd bet you'd have a different view. Â I don't get how some people seem to have written off this season already. We're still unbeaten in the conference. We may not be favored in all the rest of our games, but we'll be slight underdogs at most in one or two of them. IF Stanton would be the best QB choice on the roster after injuries (and I don't know if he would be ready over the other two), why give up on this season to save him for another unknown year? Mavric
Realistically, no way he plays. Now, if our top three go down and we're playing in the CCG? Perhaps they'd think about it. But that's extremely unlikely. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
Harrison Beck sighting in this thread. Yep! And it didn't hurt us one bit to burn that redshirt, did it? Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Uh, yes. If TM, TA, and RK3 are all totally unavailable for a game, then I suppose it would go to Johnny Stanton. Quote Link to comment
Ratt Mhule
Put JT at QB if that were to happen Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Oh yeah. I hadn't thought of that. Â That might be better actually. Quote Link to comment
husker07
JT said something to the effect that he was too big to throw the ball well anymore, although he might have been kidding. Quote Link to comment
