Landlord
An automated future will be a slow burn of job growth, but a proportionate slow burn of free and/or highly accessible goods and services. I think the progression, big picture, will happen naturally with small amounts of suffering at the hands of it. You might have certain things really suffer, like people buying houses, but most will still find ways to live because while they might be out of a job, they have access to free internet, they have free electricity from solar cells, they can easily make their own food, etc. Link to comment

zoogs
Alarm bells. Yikes. This can only help Trump run a better operation and achieve his brutal agenda. Sending the signal that he'll excise anyone who stands in his ridiculous way does have the power to bring his staffers to heel. It's bad for the rest of us. Particularly the intended victims. RedDenver
Hopefully some of the remaining staff members have a tipping point. They need to be lawyering up. And that could lead to some getting immunity from the FBI and testifying. Link to comment
knapplc
Remember how it was a dealbreaker that people COULD NOT vote for Hillary because she had too close of ties to Goldman Sachs? 1 Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I am not one who is overly alarmed that people from Goldman Sachs or Wall Street work in the Treasury department or manage it. That is where many times you find the brightest economic minds. However....the hypocrisy is tiresome. Link to comment

It's a little alarming when you stop and think that the policies they make really benefit the big dogs on wall street the most, not the little guy. 1 Link to comment

zoogs
Here’s a good way to deal with opposition: crush them. http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2017/05/anti-trump-protesters-facing-decades-bars-170522063956218.html But on April 27, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia returned a superseding indictment which added additional charges for some 212 defendants, three of whom had not previously been charged. With new felony charges including urging to riot, conspiracy to riot and destruction of property, many of the defendants are facing up to 80 years in prison. Many other defendants, among them journalists, are facing more than 70 years. O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave. 1 Link to comment
Whistlebritches
This seems like as good a spot as any for this: It was clear that Trump was still preoccupied with his November victory, and pleased with his performance with one constituency in particular. "I did very, very well with evangelicals in the polls," Trump interjected in the middle of the conversation -- previously unreported comments that were described to me by both pastors. They gently reminded Trump that neither of them was an evangelical. "Well, what are you then?" Trump asked. They explained they were mainline Protestants, the same Christian tradition in which Trump, a self-described Presbyterian, was raised and claims membership. Like many mainline pastors, they told the President-elect, they lead diverse congregations. Trump nodded along, then posed another question to the two men: "But you're all Christians?" "Yes, we're all Christians." http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2017/politics/state/donald-trump-religion/ 2 Link to comment
