BigRedBuster
OK, so let me get this straight...No TA, No Westy, and No Gerry...Can you spell DISASTER? At least now, Mike Riley and company have plenty of excuses to use when they lose the game. I can already hear the post-game interview. I do not understand, did we all break mirrors and we have several decades of bad luck following us or is our University incompetent in selecting the right coaches? May be they need a recruiting workshop from the University of Alabama administration.Your post makes no sense. What exactly requires explanation? Do you speak English? A dictionary might be helpful...It has nothing to do with English and everything to do with horrible logic and the weird string of thoughts cobbled together.A bunch of our players are injured, therefore our coaches suck for losing to Tennessee! All our coaches have sucked since 1997. Injuries! Bad hires! Riley sucks injuries! Cheese. Pretty much this.Thank you both for making my point for me...having injuries should not be an excuse to lose a game yet these coaches will use this as an excuse if they lose. Good coaches make sure that we have good back ups ready to fill the gap. I guess we will see how creative these coaches can be with this many injuries and suspensions. Go Big Red... Moreover, I chose to leave the logic to both of you since you seem to be Doctors of Philosophy and the great authority on what posts are logical and what aren't. Thank you for your hard work on that front. You're welcome. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Looks like the line is back up. About -6 or -6.5 for Tennessee. Quote Link to comment
TAKODA
Sometimes, I wonder if those who always look to the negative side, are happier with a Husker loss, than they would be with a Husker win! 3 Quote Link to comment
Landlord
There's no reason for us not to compete and have a realistic shot at winning this game when it's over. It's game week - time to get excited. Watching your team play in late December or January is a privilege and should be enjoyed. 3 Quote Link to comment

Guy Chamberlin
With all the cards stacked against us, I have a weird feeling that we will win this game. We will have no reason to expect to be in it, but we will win. I kinda feel that way too. Riley has always done a pretty good job in bowl games, his career record is 7-2. Riley is a better HC than Butch and I think it shows in this game. Plus I think TN is getting a little too much credit. They really aren't very good IMO, but then again we aren't either. Tennessee is worse than their record shows. Applachian State took them to OT, they beat OHIO, and lost to Vanderbilt. I know we are missing some key players, but some of our linemen must be healing. Tennessee still logged wins against Va. Tech, Florida and Georgia and managed a Top 10 ranking before the wheels came off, much like the Huskers. It's not a great or meaningful bowl game, but it's an interesting match-up of teams in very similar positions. Although they don't have near the Husker's legacy, Tennessee fans feel a similar sense of college football entitlement. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thank you for your hard work on that front. Most coaches are very mindful not to blame losses on injuries, blown calls by the refs, or a bonehead play by a single player. But sometimes those excuses are actually pretty solid reasons for a loss. We don't have great replacement parts at a lot of key positions, but every player should play his ass off when given the chance. So yeah, I don't want to see the team rollover when it comes to effort. I want to see Tennessee do that. Quote Link to comment

In fairness to Tennessee, they have a good number of players, that we would love to have on our roster, I suspect. Where they ended up getting discouraged and playing down after a hard stretch of games, it was the injury bug, that hit us at key positions and confounded the potential we might have had to provide a better record. Like Guy said above, they were in the top 10 for a good stretch because they played fairly well against good teams. In a 5 game stretch, they played VT, Fla, Georgia and T AM, and played well in all, winning 3 of those, then closed with Bama after the aforementioned. Quote Link to comment
