Redux
I don't love the bend/don't break ideology. I want to be the team that other teams don't like playing because of the defense. Quote Link to comment
RedSavage
I don't think he's going to be much more than an average DC. Maybe it's just me but this guy and this situation reminds me of Hank Hughes before he was hired...and I'm not talking about personality or anything like that, just as a coach and people's opinions of him Quote Link to comment
Lil' Red
Co worker is a big Notre Dame fan, he says Diaco would be a good hire. That seems to be the general consensus of most people outside of this board. 1 Quote Link to comment

That seems to be the general consensus of most people outside of this board. I think people's concern comes from his track record... Had one great year at ND, and that defense was ridiculously talented.... Bo did some pretty remarkable things with great talent too. That 2009 defense might of been the best I've ever seen. I wouldn't hate the hire, but I would be somewhat skeptical. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Something about him just doesn't feel right to me. Not sure exactly what it is. Lack of success, weird eccentric personality, no established recruiting chops, too perfect of a face, etc. Quote Link to comment

NM11046
I like his east coast ties - and I'd think he'd have some recruiting chops in IA as well potentially. Quote Link to comment
Thanks_Tom RR
Here's the thing, we are paying our position coaches up to $450K, so how much should a coordinator be expected to get? $700K+ maybe? $1M is not out of the question. Quote Link to comment

Lack of success, weird eccentric personality, no established recruiting chops, too perfect of a face, etc. There are quite a few articles floating around from his time at Notre Dame about his recruiting. Here are two for you: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2013/01/03/bcs-national-championship-defensive-coordinator-bob-diaco-notre-dame-alabama/1804929/ But when you trace the arc of Notre Dame's sudden and surprising emergence, which begins and ends with one of the most dominant defenses in the country, Diaco's imprint is undeniable. It has been made in recruiting, where he's had a strong hand in the Irish's sudden talent influx on defense. He secured five-star linebacker Ishaq Williams' commitment with a 4:30 a.m. visit to his Brooklyn home http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/on-down-the-line-notre-dame-football/2011/01/notre-dame-having-a-recruiting-run-to-be-remembered.html Quote Link to comment

I don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from him. I am pretty good at reading people, and he seems a little too much into himself. Quote Link to comment
