Loebarth
Here's a very scary fact (that is if CNN can be considered factual) Link to the article We all know that 22000 russian refugees isn't that many in the whole scheme of things but the lack of vetting at the border is cause to wonder. Honestly, it is highly concerning to me and the open border will be a huge weighing point in my 2024 vote. The Article States: In total, nearly 22,000 Russians, including the Manzurins, have tried entering the United States through the country’s southern border since October 2022, the first full month after the draft was announced, according to the latest US Customs and Border Protection data. 1 Link to comment

So, how many got in the “open border”? And how many went through the policies with border patrol? The article makes it sound like most were being allowed as humanitarian refugees. Which they absolutely should be. 1 Link to comment

The border isn't open, and the amount of vetting that takes place is anything other than lacking. This is a bit outdated but it gives you a decent overview of how rigorous the process is: 2 2 Link to comment

It is amazing that the GOP went from a reasonable, thoughtful guy like Romney in 2012 -yes who was right in the debate with Obama about Russia - to the idiot Trump who has been a headache ever since. 1 Link to comment

It is like what happened to them Pre-Stalin, where they were just this huge land mass with tons of people and no one was doing anything, nothing was updated or modernized. Not until Stalin basically killed 40 million people while forcing them to build up the country. Then, maybe after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the live singing of David Hasselhoff, they just stopped again, they just assumed that every country was "done" getting better and more advanced, while they were still buying Members Only jackets. Pretty good reasoning as to why democracy and capitalism are the best.. 3 Link to comment
commando
i am kind of hoping that the next aid package to ukraine isn't a bunch of old humvees and strykers. i think we should send them 20,000 quadcopters and other similar drones that they are using so well. 1 Link to comment

Like every issue these days it's complicated and the solutions are far from simple. At times the influx is simply overwhelming: the U.S. would. have to commit vastly more people and resources to process immigration in a timely and humanitarian way, then quickly recoil when the surges abate. Policy and ideology are one thing, but the logistics themselves are inherently problematic. Link to comment
