But even after he leaves office, he is bound to still maintain significant sway with the GOP base, something Republicans facing reelection -- and potential primary challengers -- will be forced to confront. This is one really bad thing about our government. Their first duty is to serve the country, not check whether it's popular among their constituents to serve the country, then if it is, do it. Of the dozen or so posts you've contributed to the P&R forum this last month, 3-4 of them have been little more than superficial quips about 'the left.' Some of the others would be best categorized as perfunctory ramblings with little to no attempt being made at trying to have an honest conversation. It needs to end. And that applies to everyone.
