Ha. No it is not well established and good luck tracing it in 1918. In the US, it supposedly started in the spring of 1918 in a military camp during WWI when troops had been deployed in Europe since June of 1917. What source do you have that says it is a well established fact of origin? Quote Link to comment

In my state I may not enter a library, community college hall, or a gym. However I can (but won't) go to a casino or a crowded unmasked restaurant patio. Which state is this? Quote Link to comment

What source do you have that says it is a well established fact of origin? Camp Funston in Kansas that was located at Fort Riley. But has been traced back to Haskell County Kansas. Both contemporary epidemiological studies and lay histories of the pandemic have identified the first known outbreak of epidemic influenza as occurring at Camp Funston, now Ft. Riley, in Kansas. But there was one place where a previously unknown – and remarkable – epidemic of influenza occurred. Haskell County, Kansas, lay three hundred miles to the west of Funston. There the smell of manure meant civilization. People raised grains, poultry, cattle, and hogs. Sod-houses were so common that even one of the county's few post offices was located in a dug-out sod home. In 1918 the population was just 1,720, spread over 578 square miles https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC340389/ https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/journal-plague-year-180965222/ https://ksww1.ku.edu/tag/camp-funston/ Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health [2018] pp. 219–229 The first wave appeared in the spring of 1918, in a well-documented outbreak at a military base in the farm state of Kansas. From there it spread with American troops throughout the nation and overseas on crowded trains and troop ships. It moved quickly through the congested military camps of Europe and on to east and south Asia, infecting all sides of the conflicts without regard for nationality 1 Quote Link to comment

Kansas Flu, baby. Rutgers is reporting 26 players testing positive. For you guys with past Huskers seasons on DVD, fire 'em up. That's going to be the only games you see this season. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ulty
I thought I had come to terms with the idea of having no football this fall. But yesterday, I saw Sam Adams Octoberfest at the store, and I was sad all over again. There is nothing better than drinking one or two of those while enjoying a game. 1 Quote Link to comment

My first thought was let them play foosball, but that does require 4, 2 from each team, to be in close proximity of each other. So, let them go bowling. Each player gets his own lane, one team on the left lanes, other team on the right lanes. Cheerleaders can be cheering in the back. 1 Quote Link to comment

And....like you said, it's more than just the Covid issue. Yeah, I agree. I think you are also going to see a big shift in attitudes from a lot of higher ed people that are now actually starting to accept the fact that sports pay for their 6 figure salary to "teach" 12 hours a week. 1 hour ago, Ulty said: I thought I had come to terms with the idea of having no football this fall.
