The Pac just cancelled also but waited for the B1G to do it first. The Big 12 actually moved games up to start football earlier. The SEC is looking to do the same. Or they just had the nads to do the incredibly unpopular thing that needed done when nobody else wanted to go first. TBH at this point I kind of feel like the Big XIII, SEC and ACC are lying to themselves and giving their fans false hope. Trying to convince ourselves things are fine when they're clearly not is how we got here in the first place. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
chamrocck
Enough with the panic porn...NU wants to play and I like that attitude. Other sports are playing and there is something to be said for being in the team environment and being cautious and tested to ensure safety and health. Otherwise they will be left to their own devices and could get the virus in other social gatherings. Young athletes are at almost no risk. Screw the BIG if they don’t know this. 1 1 1 3 Quote Link to comment
krc1995
Devil’s advocate. Did the University vote play because they knew the others would vote no and they could keep the fan base appeased? 1 Quote Link to comment

There's no downsides for all the football and athletic leadership, regents, etc. presenting a united front in favor of playing when they knew they will be overruled. It's not dissimilar to politicians voting no on a bill they know will pass and vice versa to score points. As an aside, how the heck would playing old Big XII foes even work? They seem content with the 9+1 schedule they hammered out, so we can't slide in and compete as a hypothetical temp league member without them shuttling noncon altogether. Likely we'd have to convince a handful of them to all take us on as their one noncon opponent. Quote Link to comment

I wonder what would happen if Nebraska called Warrens bluff. 2 Quote Link to comment

Moos and Frost wouldn’t be making their statements if they weren’t confident that they could legally play games outside the Big Ten conference this season. There must be certain “temporary outs” in the contract which allows teams to take these actions given the current situation. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I don't know much about Grant of Rights, but it seems iron clad. As for Moos and University leadership, I think they were making vocal and necessary moves. They hoped the B1G would give them permission. Nebraska ended up looking passionate and fired up yesterday, which was good. But our local writers talking about leaving the B1G looks pretty stupid. Nebraska spent their time in the B1G getting bludgeoned, you can't go limping back to the Big XII which barely resembles the conference we left. 3 Quote Link to comment
spencer7508
Take this one to the bank - Nebraska goes rouge and plays a season in the big 12, gets kicked out of the big 10, registers as an independent and signs a tv deal with the fox business network 2 1 Quote Link to comment
talaricohusker
I can see Neb getting other members together and filing a lawsuit to allow them to play 2 Quote Link to comment

It wasn’t unanimous so Ohio St and Mich and Penn State and some others who voted to play can and prob will file a lawsuit against the Big Ten. Quote Link to comment
