It's possible, but you and teach live in a very conservative state. AOC is very popular among younger Dems and of course progressives in the circles I talk politics with.

Omaha is not what it used to was....not even close.  We have gambling now!  And in 45 years...we will have legal weed!

Dude, you're in the P&R forum.  Assumed you were following at least some of the basic issues. The only tax increase is for people making more than $400,000 a year,  and the tax rate would still be lower on the wealthy than it's been in for most of the last 70 years.

Who knows? Maybe we could get some of the huge corporations paying ZERO taxes to pony up a bit.

But you gotta promise not to call it socialism.

Raising corporate taxes will prove to not be the income redistribution magic wand.  Corporations will not bear the increase alone.

....but Biden's tax plans may not get far.

Can we get back to what I posted though?  I wasn't focusing on AOC...I was focusing on Democrats blaming Progressives for Biden not getting a Landslide win.

Anyone got anything to say about that kind of talk?

It's being discussed in the Dems Rebuild thread:

He kind of won in a landslide...he will have 306 EC votes and the most votes ever in US history and beat a sitting President.  What more would they want?  It isn't like he is charming, witty and funny like Reagan or smooth like Clinton and Obama.

Sounds like they are just being a$$h@!es.

I don't know if I'd blame 'progressives' necessarily, but I agree with some comments recently made by Andrew Yang. They were in specific reference to Democrats being unable to relate better to the working class, but I think they apply to the overall picture fairly well: "...the Democratic party unfortunately has taken on this role of the coastal urban elites who are more concerned about policing various cultural issues than improving their [working class] way of life."

I think there's a lot of truth to this. Although I lean liberal on a number of social and cultural issues, I routinely find myself disconnected from Democrats' passionate and emboldened attempts to make me feel bad about everything going on in the world and that I should feel ashamed for feeling differently about something they do. It's exhausting.

I think the truth of the matter too is that a lot of Democrats are currently trying to understand the overwhelming amounts of support Trump commanded in the last four years. It's as baffling to them as it is to me. It's almost like an ant trying to understand why humans study their behaviors and habitats.

People already replied to this in another topic. Someone else posted it before you.

I agree with you on a lot of this. I own/use/fire numerous guns. There are many ways we can introduce responsible legislation.

But, to the bolded above, you are being misleading, though maybe not on purpose. There are no current sales of automatic weapons in the public sector with RARE exceptions. If you are making reference to AR-15 style weapons, you have completely overstated the firing rate.

AR-15's are capable of about 600 rounds per minute at the extreme, but that firing rate would melt the barrel. They can sustain between 300-400 rounds per minute, but definitely not with accuracy.

There were workable solutions that received bipartisan approval during the Clinton Admin. Perhaps we should re-visit some of those.

Totally willing to agree to this. I'm not a gun guy and I've never fired a weapon like that, and yes, that was a complete guess on the firing rate.

Fraud in elections is like bias in college football refereeing.

Even as a life long Republican (till about 6 years ago) I had no problem with wealthier people paying a higher percentage of their income in taxes.  What I have always thought though there should be a limit.  Maybe a law that says nobody should be able to be taxed over XX%.  Make that 40 or 50%.  Then, get rid of a lot of loop holes that allows them to not pay very much.

I don't have a problem with someone making $50,000 per year paying maybe 15% while someone making $500,000 paying 30%.  Understanding that it's not 30% on ALL of their income.

What I have a problem with is someone being taxed at a level of say 70% or 90% like has happened a few times in our history.

Our coach would say "get used to it."

I work with students that would be the ones voting for her in the near future.  She doesn't move the needle for most of them yet.  I thought they would be bigger fans but there is either a disconnect or they just don't buy what she is selling.

I still think she leaves for a podcast/satellite gig for about 10-15 million a year.

Wait until they leave Mom & Pop Conservative's house and go to college and have to deal with folks outside their conservative bubble.
