Every frikken time reigning in what big pharma is charging us comes up the Rs start the song and dance about R&D costs and less invention. But the rest of the world pays pennies on the dollar compared to us for the exact same Rx from the exact same pharma companies. And other countries have many more choices for even less costly generics that we can’t get because the FDA and our government is protecting big pharma profits. Recovering R&D costs is a tired BS excuse to keep bending us over.

People who understand economics far better than me have pointed out that pricing for medical procedures and equipment in the U.S. do no follow common models like supply and demand, or semi-socialized economies of scale. It's kind of a wild west of different vendors charging different amounts based on whatever they can get in the moment, shielded by practitioners and patients knowing private insurance or federal assistance will pay for it, and the insurance companies doing little to no negotiating or forensics on what they're being billed. Lobbyists have been successful on both sides of the aisle convincing politicians to convince consumers that this system is worth protecting. Or, at the very least, the health insurance industry will scream and make too much trouble if they're in any way disrupted, probably invoking the word "socialism."

If you can’t understand i vote for candidates within the party I register with when they align with what I want and believe it then you just don’t read my posts.

I’m not just party line voting though most of my votes go to Republicans.   I’ve already said I won’t be voting for trump if he runs.  Some republicans are bat s#!t crazy, some do it to get attention and make a name.  Same can be said with your party.   Vote for the good ones, don’t vote for the bad ones.  Kinda easy to figure out.

Btw….I don’t donate to candidates or any party.

IIRC, you were among those who discredited -- I think "mocked" was accurate -- Liz Cheney for trying to distance the GOP from Trump.  You accused her of seeking attention, too, when in fact she was advocating for the kind of GOP you seem to support.

Also, you voted for Donald Trump twice, covering 5 years when he was as bats#!t as anyone in politics, much less the highest seat of power.

We do read your posts.

Well s#!t. That covers most of the books I have read. Quite a few of those have a common dystopian theme that would help the reader recognize when their government is becoming too tyrannical. Also many with good lessons on race and racism. Seems they are aware of their own tendencies and they desire to suppress opposition. Today’s Republicans.

Apparently Fahrenheit 451 hit too close to home with them releasing a censure (burn) list. They’ll probably sneak that one in quietly later.

Looks like others fell for the meme too.

Banning books is a really ignorant and bad idea. The only thing it accomplishes is gratification for a few hypocritical individuals.  People (including kids) who want to read them will find and read their content.   Banning books is just another step in the direction of authoritarian fascism.
