I think it is simply not known in a concrete way how long the vaccine will counteract the virus...and the notable variants. 1 Link to comment

My son, who works wt covid patients at a local hospital as a physical therapist, said the 2nd shot made him pretty sore throughout - he had to take off work the next day because of it. But he said over the counter pain meds (ibuprofen) was all he needed. The pain lasted about a day. Link to comment
