See!?!?  THERE'S A CHANCE, YOU GUYS.

I thought it was actually 2..  Shiano and Cutcliffe. I couldn't see if they changed staffs or not though......Regardless, the odds are not in our favor.  But then again, the impossibility of going 5-18 in one score games was shattered....So maybe there is a chance.

Brian Christopherson with some good points about today's news. Now that the decision has been made to keep Frost, next year has to hit big for this Cornhusker program.

I'd right now lean toward another season with Frost's chance to turn it once and for all against that 2022 schedule, with the caveat that this isn't about baby steps in the year ahead. This is about believing you're more of a 6-4 or 7-3 team right now than a 3-7 team, and you're expected to take a step like you'd want from a squad that had a winning record in 2021.

It'd be not just about putting a dent in the wall that you can cover up with a small clock, but knocking a big enough hole that you're driving a John Deere tractor through it for consistent winning, whether you're out of the shotgun or under center. Don't care. Just win. Go win like nine or more. That’s got to become the bar again, and pronto.

Scott Frost is returning next year, that's final. But step back and take a look at the bigger picture here. In Trev Alberts bringing Scott Frost back for his fifth year, after putting together four consecutive sub .500 seasons and not going to a bowl game in four consecutive years, he has successfully ended our pattern of firing head coaches who don't have winning seasons in their short 3-4 year head coaching stints at Nebraska. Consider this a decision and move to "give back" to firing Solich after a 9 win season.

Coincidentally I wrote out Solich's name in that last sentence to transition into this next thought. The announcement of a restructured contract, the rumblings of there will be staff changes, means there is likely going to be a few spots opened on next years staff. Coach Solich retired from being a head coach so he is available to be hired. It would almost be too poetic to hire him as our special teams coach next year, but hiring him in some way onto this staff would certainly go a long way in restoring the order.

Yes, time to restore the order. It may be no coincidence that one of the job openings on this staff next year is the offensive line and there is one heck of an offensive line coach in the NFL that may feel he has unfinished business in Lincoln. Bill Callahan, we are sorry we put the blame on you all those years ago, we were naive to internal destruction and thought you were rock bottom. Forgive us as we now see in the darkness, the light. Husker nation would gladly welcome you back to coach our offensive line and be honored to call you a Nebraska coach.

These actions started by Trev Alberts create a domino effect of opened positions and for Nebraska to be back and there to stay, it may need to reward some of it's good coaches with taking things off their plate. Although the defense has been the bright spot for Nebraska this year, it can be even better, particularly on the defensive line. There is another coach who is currently unemployed but has a long history of being successful in producing NFL caliber defensive linemen, that man is Bo Pelini. The last coach Nebraska fired after a 9 win season.

You'd by now, after reading all this you'd be ready to rejoice with a hip hip hooray! But as I type about 9 win seasons, there is another unemployed former Nebraska coach out there and he is the coach who last won 9 games at Nebraska. Mike Riley was a really nice guy with decades worth of experience in coaching football, something a young head coach like Scott Frost may learn from and benefit from. The ever so coveted "Specialist" coaching job would be a good spot for Riley.

In this, we find comfort in knowing the wheels may be in motion and things may be compiling to be put together a final product to present to the football God's and ultimately may be granted forgiveness.

GBR.
