QMany
I hope this isn't true. I heard it from the same source that told me about Westerkamp's injury. 2 Quote Link to comment
sho
Any indication as to why? Quote Link to comment
Redux
No Tommy, No Westy, No Gerry.... What's the current line? 1 Quote Link to comment
QMany
Any indication as to why? I'll just say academically ineligible is what I heard. 1 Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
If academically ineligible, it's really not that surprising. Definitely not a shot at NG by the way. I love the kid. My point is, football players are gone a ton! Plus, slip in a little case of senioritis, knowing you didn't make a major bowl game, also knowing you are very likely getting drafted... Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised, just disappointed that now we possibly won't see Gerry along with TA and Westy in their final games as Huskers Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Would be two straight years of crappy ways to finish the season for him.... Quote Link to comment
Popular Post ColoradoHusk
I will take a shot at Gerry. I understand that a lot of the kids don't go to NU to play school, but it's not hard to take a minimum number of classes and pass those classes to remain eligible. I know they put in a ton of time practicing and film study, but they also get a lot of academic support that the average student doesn't. First he was suspended the first game for academic issues over the summer, and now this. Frankly, he should be embarrassed. 13 Quote Link to comment
NUance
First the targeting. And now this. It's always Nate Gerry's head that gets him booted from games. Sheesh! 2 Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
Saying this knowing this isn't confirmed yet: I have to fall in line with the thought process that there is no excuse for being academically ineligible with all the help they get and the money that is put into it for these players. If you are sitting here in your last year and you haven't done what it takes to be there for your team, then that's a failure on you. 2 Quote Link to comment
junior4949
If I'm a NFL GM or such, this would certainly be a red flag if true. 2 Quote Link to comment
NM11046
Academically ineligible can include attendance, grades or cheating I suspect? I honestly can't believe with this program and it's requirements that attendance or grades would come as a surprise to coaching staff ... the only thing I can think of that might happen unexpectantly would be cheating. Edit: I should clarify - if attendance or grades were tracking this way they would have stepped in early to help. Quote Link to comment

BigRedBuster
I don't think this will have a big affect on his NFL career. There have been players before that have shown little to no work ethic in the class room and went on to be top draft picks and good NFL players. Quote Link to comment
