Archy so narrowly defined the question to be framed as Republicans actively and consciously supporting the success of Russia ahead of the success of the United States. Republicans anxious to support Trump quickly began softening longstanding rhetoric around Putin and Russia. Fox News was already on board, its pundits having aired segments showing the shirtless Putin and wishing aloud Obama was this manly and commanding. Trump gets blustery about NATO not paying its bill, not quite understanding how the agreement works. Putin joins a list of other world leaders, including Viktor Orban, admired for their autocratic rule rather than democratic principals. Next thing you know, Fox pundits, farther right media, and elected Republicans are wondering if Russia is the real victim in the Ukraine war. Yada yada yada...Tucker Carlson goes to Moscow, declares it nicer than any American city, expresses his disgust for the United States, and gives Putin the hand-picked platform he wanted. Tucker is currently on a short list for either Vice-President or Secretary of State in a second Trump term. Bada-bing, bada boom. It's not just two douchebags in t-shirts.

After all we've heard come out of his mouth the past so many years ("stand back and stand by", "you need to fight like hell or we won't have a country", "poisoning the blood of our country", etc) whether he was speaking literally or about the auto industry metaphorically the fact of the matter is that his intentions are to rile up his base to the point of violence. I can't believe any reasonable, not gullible person would give him the benefit of the doubt at this time. If one does want to give him that benefit, then they'd have to say he's an idiot for using that terminology knowing what the reaction would be. He's not the brightest bulb but he does know demagoguery so I'd say he knew exactly what he was doing.

Huskers open as 3.5 point favorites with an over/under of 143.5. ESPN gives Nebraska a 48.7% cance to win. Odd that Huskers are favored by Vegas, but underdogs by ESPN's metrics.

Anybody else care to explain to me how that a$$h@!e is the victim here? I'd really love it explained in greater detail. I really didn't think the "Donald J. Trump, perpetual victim" movement needed more steam, but it chugs along.

B1G officiating is just plain awful. Unless you are Edey (who can't get touched, but can manhandle people), there is just no consistency. Edey would maul people on rebounds and not get called, but as soon and someone bumps him a tiny bit while he is shooting there would be a whistle. It was just laughable. And this is a big reason why Purdue won't make it to the Sweet 16 - they won't get the favorable B1G reffing next week. In the Nebraska/Illinois game, it was impossible to figure out what a foul was on a shooter. Guys would get knocked over, no whistle. Then the next time down the court there would be some ticky-tack call on a drive. There was also a time when the ref blew the whistle on us before Shannon shot the ball, and still gave him an And-1.

I think the imbalance in how the game was called on both ends (not saying we didn't foul, but 9-3 foul differential with 12 minutes to go) affected how the defense played as they couldn't breath on Shannon driving without a foul being called. Then when one of our guys would drive and get similar contact, nothing. But, we also have to make shots and get the ball in the basket.

You argue the silliest points and just willingly sidestep anything that isn't explicitly spelled out for you. I get it, it makes your arguments easier. Here's the problem: whether you care to acknowledge it or not, a growing sentiment within the base of your party is that Russia isn't that bad. They're just taking back what's theirs. The other side are the aggressors. They're trying to uphold conservative christian values. Or any other number of ridiculous arguments I've heard that they're not really a threat and other entities are much more clear and present dangers to us as a nation. Peak ridiculousness i that notion that Russia is constrained under Trump/Republicans generally and only aggressive under Democrats because they're more afraid of the tougher Republicans. Hell, if I go up a few posts you're using a version of this argument. GOP electeds realize these dynamics and exploit them for their own benefit because their voters are stupid enough to believe this crap. They're not advancing Russian interests because they care about Russia. They just know their voters are utter rubes and they're happy to make them useful idiots if it keeps them in their cushy Washington gigs. It's bad for the world and it's damaging our democracy.
