MLB 51
Does anyone think it is a possibility that one of the coaches on the LSU staff could be in the mix. We are recruiting some of there players pretty hard. Quote Link to comment
Norhusker
Other changes or moves within the coaching staff may have impacted the announcement of a DC. If Papuchis gets the job ( I think he will), then we need to fill in another coaching position on defense. That could be an outside candidate. Changes on the offensive side are still possible as well. Bo might want to get all of his chess pieces aligned before making the announcement. The fact that he said he has a pretty good idea of who it is (D.C.) kind of points to this....Maybe. Quote Link to comment

We have been hitting them hard and someone said earlier that we might be waiting for the " new hire " to finish up with his bowl game. Quote Link to comment
QMany
Sean_Callahan Sean Callahan FootballScoop.com is reporting Iowa defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski as a candidate to join Nebraska's coaching staff. #huskers Quote Link to comment
da skers
It's pretty sad that a Husker Insider like Sean Has to get his big scoop from a source like football scoop. And to think....people pay for his crap. Quote Link to comment

Surely we have some kind of rules against that? Quote Link to comment
Overland Park Husker
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? Quote Link to comment
Excel
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? hmmm because its Iowa? Quote Link to comment

HSKR
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? Nebraska >Iowa. Quote Link to comment
HeyBurke
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? In what way would moving from DL coach at Iowa to the DC at Nebraska be a lateral move? Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? These could be possible reasons why he would make a lateral move. 1) Iowa's DC resigned. So leaving gives him a choice as to who he will work with. 2) Pelini is known as a great defensive coach. Chance to build knowledge. 3) Nebraska has a great rep. 4) Similar to 2. Taking more than 1 job is good for career growth. He is a guy that recruits Florida so that would be nice for the Huskers. That may be the thing we are all missing here. Sure we need to fill a defensive position but we also need someone who can bring in some players. Even if the hire isn't the most experienced as a coach, if he is a hot recruiter, that could get him the job. Quote Link to comment
strigori
Why would he make a lateral move from Iowa to Nebraska? Because Pelini's assistants seem to be on a faster track to becoming DC's and Head coaches. I don't recall anyone off Ferntz's staff moving up to bigger things. Quote Link to comment

In what way would moving from DL coach at Iowa to the DC at Nebraska be a lateral move? It's implied that he would take over the DL at Nebraska as Papuchis gets promoted. Still, though, I'm with you that being a position coach at Nebraska is a step up from being a position coach at Iowa. Quote Link to comment
