IF that is true, the defense has got up to speed pretty damn quickly. I've always anticipated the defense getting smoked for the first week and a half or so and gradually leveling the playing field.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Jared Afalava is working at Buck (strongside) linebacker in NU’s base defense and Will (weakside) linebacker in the Huskers’ nickel scheme. Pelini said Afalava at times “overthinks it” but is generally making good progress.

 

There was a mention somewhere else that Z. Anderson might play some nickel/dime back roles. This would seem to fit with that possibility.
