THis is exactly how I feel about the first half.

He's never seen the jet sweeps or the end arounds from Minnesota? I've actually watched a few of the games, they are ALL on film, same exact plays. I'm calling BS on the convo with Bo.

Anyone else wonder what might happened if Martinez runs that ball? Probably the right decision, considering we had no TO left, but he probably would have gotten a first down at least.

I agree. Too risky without a timeout.

2nd Quarter Impressions:

• Nebraska came crashing back down to earth and started looking more like a Bo Pelini coached Nebraska team...unfortunately.
  
• Serious question for Tim Beck; Do you really think Taylor Martinez is a drop-back passer, and do you really think that gives you the best chance to win???
  
• When Minnesota is out rushing Nebraska in the first half, serious changes need to be made.
  
• Sadly, again when our defense on paper has more talent than an opposing team we can make them look vastly superior to us.
  
• The lack of aggression, getting off blocks, not flying to the football, and giving up big plays on 4th down is simply unacceptable.
  
• If Nebraska loses this game, consider Bo back on the hot seat.
  
• On the positive note...maybe Pat Smith is gaining some confidence.
  

 

What I would like to see in the 2nd half:

1. The speed option is working...bring in a quarterback who can really run it. It's time to live or die with Tommy Armstrong.
   
2. Why bring in Tommy? If Taylor can't run its a 10 vs. 11 kind of game. We must have mobility at the QB position to make it 11 on 11.
   
3. Get into bigger sets, either 2 tight end sets or I-formation and start running right at Minnesota, followed with misdirection / play-action bootleg plays.
   
4. Strap the chin-straps down tight everyone...it's going to be a long 2nd half I think.

Once again, the team shows up to win, not to play.

 

There's a very different mindset between Minnesota and Nebraska. Minnesota is playing over their heads for their ailing coach. Nebraska is going through the motions.

The sad thing is, Minnesota isn't doing anything creative or even fancy. They are lining up man on man and just kicking our butts.

Excuse me? It's embarrassing that I'm frustrated watching this team constantly crap the bed? I don't mind losing....it's...aw hell what's the point.
