Kickoff Time Announcement Thread - Primetime Games: Miami, MSU, *FSU*

Sad part about all of these night games is that teachercd won't remember most of this season

Ha!

The actual sad part will be the night games that are away games...that means my friends will pull the old "Yeah, I can make it to the bar but probably right at kickoff..." leaving me and maybe one other person with the task of getting there 4 hours early and trying to save seats.

I did not expect Illinois to be a night game. I understand Northwestern and our history with them, but Illinois?

Am I missing something?

I just think the BTN is trying to get marquee teams (Nebraska) shown in prime time. This is a great move by the conference. The conference needs to be using the BTN to its advantage, and that means more late afternoon and night games, and fewer 11 AM central games.

Completely 100% agree. If I could pile on more +1s to this I would.

Saturday, Sept. 27

9 ET – Illinois at Nebraska. It will be fun to watch what figures to be a standout Nebraska defense clash with an Illinois offense that could be one of the best in the Big Ten. These teams have met just once since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten, as Nebraska took a 39-19 win in Lincoln last season. The teams will meet again in Lincoln in a series Nebraska leads, 8-2-1. The Fighting Illini’s last victory came in Lincoln in 1924, 9-6

They replace a senior at quarterback and four seniors at wide receiver. Bit of a reach there, BTN.

It's amazing that it took the BTN so long to realize "You mean we don't have to schedule all of our games in that early time slot, and show a post game show that no one watches in the prime time slots?"

Now the Northwestern game makes me nervous. Night games on the road are tough. In prime time games since NU joined the Big Ten (conference games only), Nebraska is 3-2. The three victories were at home, the two losses were road blowouts. Now each of these games have been against marquis opponents (Wisconsin, OSU, Michigan), so we'll see if Northwestern can stir up the same type of environment (I doubt they can).

While I was looking up the night games, I also looked at NU's overall road record since joining the Big Ten, based on timeslot.

At 7pm, we're 0-2 on the road.

At 11am, we're 3-2.

At 2:30, NU is 5-0 on the road. That includes Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

I'd prefer our road games to be at 2:30! It is more accommodating for our record and for my sleep and dinner schedule!
