Bama being awesome doesn't equal Vandy being relevant. Just stop people, please, stop being happy for the big10.All tonight solidified was that Nebraska is a LONG LONG LONG LONG way off from winning a conference title. The realities of college football say otherwise. The sport is ALL about perception. Doesn't matter if you don't want to be happy for the Big 10. The reality is the SEC won what, 7 national championships in a row (and would have won another THIS season) based largely on perception. Welcome to modern college football. Attitude changes, very little about what Devaney and Osborne built remains. Just the fans honestly. We keep believing, following, screaming and yelling. The bar has been set, far above what most thought it was. Coach Riley has a lot of things to repair, the attitude, the desire to play for Nebraska, the split in the fan base. We saw a united front tonight, in every aspect. A long long long way away. Our guy needs all of our support, he needs to succeed and start cutting down trees every day, chop chop it will fall. If the B1G starts getting their rep back then its hard to leave out a 1 loss champ which they almost did this year. B1G always needed to go undefeated to be considered. Now 13-1 champ sounds good to the committee and off the bat sounds better than a 12-1 ACC or 11-1 Big XII champ. Pressure is on those guys to be perfect. 4 Quote Link to comment

Redux Posted January 13, 2015 Share Posted January 13, 2015 First off congrats to tOSU for a brilliantly played and executed game. Great win for them and great win for the Big Ten. To come back from losing Miller, losing to VaTech, losing Barrett and finishing off a 3 game run where the 3rd string backup QB wins a conference title, playoff game against Bama and a National title is pretty damn impressive. Now, I agree. This win doesnt give Husker fans any reason to gloat. Sure we are in the same conference. Yet we play in a different division and never saw them on our schedule this year. Common opponent Wisconsin blew us out then got shut out by tOSU. I was cheering Ducks last night as I think they have been one of the most consistent teams of the last decade and a title was long overdue. I feel more allegiance to Scott Frost than I do anyone at Ohio State, we are still the new guys in this league after all. That game felt like watching Nebraska in Madison this year. All the opportunity in the world and the talent to pull of the win but failed miserably to stop the run and execute in the red zone. Still it would be great for the conference to go on a run and build some mystique for our new home. Perception can be reality and this could go a long way towards saying our league will not be kicked around any longer by the media. Hope this has a positive effect on our perception in the long run but it did very little for us in Husker Nation save for shutting up an SEC fan for a few months. Quote Link to comment

Lets not put Ohio st up on some invinsible pedestal. College Football isuch more competitive and the gap is much closer than that. Hold your knees down and gain some perspective and your angst over the future will calm back to a healthy level. Ohio st isnt gonna win the next 200 games and 17 national championships. It will be hard for them to repeat a playoff berth but it is a young team. On one hand you want Frost to do well calling the plays, on the other hand you want the B1G to do well, for the prestige of the conference. OSU's win didn't do anything for our team, except to show how far behind we are, in getting to OSU's level of play. Three q/b's on one team that could start on any team, in the country, lol. Can't help but wonder what our season would have looked like if we had to go to our third string q/b. Maybe this helps in recruiting a little, for the 4/5* kids that want to play for OSU and can't get in there. Maybe some of them spill over to the rest of the B1G. Riley must be thinking "out of the frying pan and into the fire", after watching last night. GBR!!! Quote Link to comment
