Dansker
With Tommy out, do you guys think Riley and staff are going to "use the injury" as a way to experiment with Fyfe from here on out to see how he does? From a coach's perspective, I don't see how they're NOT disappointed with TA's performance thus far. I think Tommy has done some good things but he still makes terrible decisions that make me close my eyes hoping the worst doesn't happen. I fear with him being out with turf toe, he may not see the field until a bowl if we somehow scratch our way through and even then, I don't see how he gets his starting job back because that would mean Fyfe led the boys to 3 more victories. I'm excited to see what Fyfe can bring to the table but I think it is going to be tough to judge him on this Saturday alone. It looks like it is going to be a muggy game and we may want to keep things vanilla but don't be surprised if the offense somehow starts to look like a well oiled machine with the backup in there. I would not set expectations high but as always, expect the unexpected. Remember Joe Ganz? Quote Link to comment
Tomhusker64
There is a reason Fyfe is the back up. Quote Link to comment
GOAT
Neither one will be starting next season so it really doesn't matter. 1 Quote Link to comment
Scratchtown
I'm actually expecting him to play well, early. Taper off, then finish strong. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
Neither one will be starting next season so it really doesn't matter. I kind of think the same exact thing and I also think the staff my sort of be thinking "Hmmmm...we can sit our starter the rest of the year, start Fyfe for the last 4 games and have a bit of an excuse for losing" Quote Link to comment

Ratt Mhule
MSU defense vs Fyfe would be an absolute bloodbath. Lets hope Tommy can get healthy and at least make it respectable 2 Quote Link to comment

I know, I know how it sounds but they know this season is lost. They know TA is dinged up. So you have the back up in and it changes the theme. Heck look how many "Hey, this is Riley's first year coaching at NU" posts there are...it would be that same type of thing with the backup QB in. Quote Link to comment
Red Five
Tommy will come back this year and he will be the starter for Game 1 next year. 3 Quote Link to comment

STL Husker
I'm going to go out on a limb for my prediction. Fyfe plays well enough to get the 20-30 point victory we should get regardless of who is at QB. Our game plan will be to run the ball and he makes enough plays to keep the team moving down field, but doesn't do anything outstanding to make him the obvious better QB. Then next week Tommy will start and people will start screaming for Fyfe to play when he struggles against MSU citing how well Ryker did against Purdue when he got a chance to play. Then he will come in and everyone will realize that Fyfe isn't the solution to all of our struggles and there is a reason why TA was the starter all year. Tommy will be the starter until he graduates. The end. Quote Link to comment
