Mavric
any chance or is it even possible VV comes back now?? Damon Benning is looking to ask VV some questions. I'm assuming it's related. Don't think he'll come back but would be interesting he hear his thoughts. Quote Link to comment

I believe it would depend if VV signed with an agent. Which I believe he has, which means he cannot come back Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
Wow. Busy all day and came back to this. Good luck to Hank, seems like a good, professional guy and wish him nothing but the best. But. Can we shift focus a little bit and talk about how encouraging of a move this is on Riley's end? My absolute biggest fear would be him not getting rid of dead weight, the same way Callahan was undone, and the same way Bo was undone. This is a HUGE statement and a great look for our program going forward. Very, very encouraged by this. When's the last time we had a coach get fired straight up? I agree the message this sends is even more important than the specific coaching change. Hopefully this is an indication that the staff will be held accountable and, when they fall short of expectations, they will be replaced. It would seem to signal that MR understands we need to shoot for and hit a higher level. Maybe it doesn't mean all that much but I'm going to keep my hopes up that it does until proven wrong. Stumpy1
Find it funny that we just hired Alexander's Dline coach from DePaul HS and we just got rid of Hughes. Hmmm Quote Link to comment
I AM FOOT FOOT
slowly but surely this Riley feller is making me like hm. if he hires a well known recruiting d line coach I may even buy a Riled UP! shirt.....for my kid..... who will put it on the dog...who will prolly pee on it at some time....GBR Quote Link to comment
krc1995
I think Riley's more of a competitor then he appears. Probable sees the writing on the wall with the balls to the wall approach that Harbaugh uses and doesn't want to fall behind. Quote Link to comment
NebraskaHarry
This is very good news. Though I wonder what took Riley so long. Quote Link to comment
C N Red
First thing I said when I saw this was Thank the Lord!!! Guy was an absolute anchor to the D-line and recruiting. Isn't Ed Orgeron a D-line coach? Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Uh, were'nt we top 10 vs the rush last year?Scheme and all the talent we had in the middle. Dude just couldn't recruit. This.....100% Screwed up with Fant at South O, and couldn't close on any of the top tier DL recruits. Very powerful message Riley just sent. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
According to my horrible sources...this was a bit of a beginning...and a bit of a realization. Quote Link to comment

NebraskaHarry
This is very good news. Though I wonder what took Riley so long. Waited till after signing day. Why? Nebraska wasn't going to lose any of the current commits that have. Unless Riley was giving Hughes a chance to prove himself up to signing day. But I'd still ask the same question.. what took so long? Quote Link to comment
HuskerNation1
I agree with most comments on here that I am very impressed to see a head coach put accountability on his assistants to perform on gameday and on the recruiting trail. The D-line recruiting was a glaring weakness in this class, and if you can't recruit well, you won't have the right guys on gameday to win big games. Hughes seems like a decent coach but simply could not recruit. Now, the big question (and perhaps we need a new thread) is who will be the replacement. WIth Riley's tenure and experience in both college and the pros, and the fact that everybody who has worked with him loves him, he should be able to find somebody good. Quote Link to comment
